Default IF PASSIONFORD IS SLOW OR WON'T LOAD FOR YOU

In Windows, do the following:

Start -> Run -> cmd

This will open a DOS box. Type the following:
tracert passionford.com

You'll get some results that look like this:
Code:
14 149 ms 149 ms 149 ms 83.231.148.20
15 144 ms 145 ms 143 ms ge-9-2.the.uk.euroconnex.net [217.112.81.2]
16 145 ms 144 ms 145 ms 217.112.82.21
17 146 ms 140 ms 154 ms passionford.com [92.48.66.100]
Right click the window, then choose Select All (it will turn white), then press Enter. This will copy the text to your clipboard.

Once you have this, post your results in this thread and we'll see what's going on.

If you are on MacOS or Linux, you can use the traceroute command - it will do the same thing.

Worse than ever!

Can't do those tests on the other network where I'm having most problems as it just crashes when I try and post!

Lots of people were originally having these problems pal, cure for them all, including me was:

1) Delete all internet cache.
2) Close all internet explorers.
3) turn Off PC.
4) Turn off ROUTER/MODEM
5) power it all back up.

Now i dont know why this is, but without step 4, mine was dog slow and kept freezing if i pressed reply etc. Was a real drain.

Point 4 alone fixed mine and a few others. Why? Clueless mate.

With a traceroute like that (ending in such a low ping time) you should be flying!

My ISP advised this to me ages ago, their explanation was that BT do repairs to the connections every so often so it alters your current connection. By turning off the router you will connect to a fresh connection that hasn't been messed with [yet]. I regularly turn off my router because of this and it's amazing just how much faster it is when you turn it back on.

That makes perfect sense of course, but doenst in any way explain why it could affect ONLY 1 website.

Most likely there is a bad routing table entry somewhere. Not necessarily the ISP's fault, but their support department is a good place to start. The fact that resetting your router (& thus getting a new IP from them) fixes it does point at it being either within the ISP's network, or VERY close to it.

If you have a netgear router (other makes and models supported also) try a tool called DMT, you can manually resync to the exchangee and/or reboot your modem, and change the % ratio if your having disconnects for a stable / faster connection :

Nuts and S2's traceroutes seem to reveal a common problem with the last hop between Verio (an Internet provider) and eUKhost (where PF lives.) I have opened a ticket with eUKhost to see if they can troubleshoot it.

BigErn, dunno what to tell you. The traceroute there looks fine. Ditto Gatecrasher.

I've forwarded this information both to eUKhost and to Euroconnex. So far eUKhost is denying that it couldn't possibly be on their end, even though the traceroutes make it blatantly obvious that it's either them or one of their network service providers. I'm still trying to talk some sense into them. Hopefully Euroconnex will listen to reason.

Verio and Euroconnex both have problems going through the one router (217.112.82.21) which shows as belonging to eUKhost... anyone with a rudimentary education in network engineering would be suspicious that the problem could be there. Hopefully I can talk one of eUKhost's support guys into forwarding the information to an actual network engineer.

I've heard back from eUKHost. They are forwarding your traceroutes to their upstream network provider to see if this can be fixed.

Got this message from Euroconnex, who I sent an inquiry to:
eUKhost has notified us of this issue, at this present time there is an issue between Tiscali and Telia link, the two companies are major world wide carriers. We have contacted tiscali in regards to this issue however they have not provided us an update. If you have any further questions feel free to let me know.
