Default Idle speed control valve

hello friends

i tried to remove the ISC valve on my Sappire cosworth 4x4 for inspection as warm idle speed was high (1000-1200 rpm). When I removed the holding down plate screws and plate I tried to pull the ISC valve out but it failed to come off even when pulled out hard. Any help regarding this matter? thanks

I have found a slight wiggle from side to side helps, whilst trying a prying action with a small thin screwdriver in between the iscv body and surround, you will just about get a thin one in and wiggle to one side, push screwdriver in gap other side wiggle back etc etc, does work, my one took a few minutes to get off to start with, don't forget to set the base idle as well.

Thank you all for your valued replies.
Why does it get so hard to remove is there some form of seal which could get damaged on removal and would require replacement prior to re-installation?

tabetha, am I correct to set the base idle speed with the ISCV loom disconnected and adjusting the small screw found at the lowest in the throttle body? 850 rpm ok?

thanks

yes correct. when hot obviously.

dont clean it with wd40, just use a thin grade oil

fyi, they have 2 rubber seals, you can re use them, just lube them up.

I would set it a bit higher at 950 rpm.

Hi friends
Succeeded to remove ISCV. Was afraid to use a screw driver for the prying action because of risk of breaking housing edge--After some tought tried using a long thick nylon cable tie strapped around the ICSV body and then pulled hard on the loose long end which gave me a good grip---ICSV poppped out after some side jerkings and hard pulls

I also removed the base idle control screw and found its rubber O ring heavily deteriorated. Replaced O ring, cleaned and lubricated ISCV + idle screw and relative ports, and set idle rpm as recommended by you----Perfect.Hot engine Idle rpm very stable even when electical load in put on. Cold engine RPM at 1200 rpm is this OK?
Many thanks again

What grade of engine oil would you recommend? Over here we have got very hot summers and very mild winters. Engine has got 80K miles on it + never been overhauled or opened. Currently it has got Mobil1 5W-50 (as reccommended by Ford????) supersyn fully synthetic. Engine runs smoothly+ no smoke or noises whatsoever. I could no longer find Mobil 5/50 locally so was considering using Castrol edge sport 10W-60 fully synthetic as well. As far as my knowledge is both are API classified as SM.

Thanks

That will be fine what you are using, cold idle speed dictated by ecu so nothing to worry about.
