Series 1 4x4 cosworth

Yeah I did, I realised I was talking crap after I wrote it! The bulkhead is obviously in the same place as any other saph as mine was taken as one piece. The only difference is the lip at the top by the heater motor sits further forward as far as I can tell so the cylinder head may be obstructing it tilting back any further? Not sure. Maybe I'm talking shite but it def wasn't as easy to do as my track car.

It's funny you mentioned the lip as on mine that has been bent down and gives a 20-30mm gap between the back of the cylinder head and the bulkhead.
When I've changed the box (as I'm assuming most do) I have to tilt the engine and gearbox right down in order to separate the box from the engine block. I also always have to drop the ARB to give me more room. Mine however is a fully fabricated conversion with the tunnel and all mounts made from scratch.
You mentioning the lip has now made me realise why perhaps mine has been bent down - giving more room. So if this is the only difference on yours to a standard panel I would probably say that's it. I'm guessing the tunnels have a fair amount of space around them normally which is why you don't usually have to drop the ARB?!

Dragged the S1 out a few days ago. Finally got off my backside to get the box etc back in....
Managed to push it onto the trailer and took it to my mates, he has a ramp at the house. Wasnt doing all this on the floor again!
Got a new lightened flywheel, organic clutch from Matt Lewis cos the AP paddle clutch wasnt to my liking.
Fitted the Hyd clutch with a little help from the grinder!
And a little jiggling and hey presto..

Prop all back on. Sorted a couple of issues previously not dealt with. Bought the new donut designed by some blokes on here i think, M and P developments https://mandpdevelopments.co.uk/prop...6vWBVs6pqpONY0 Works well.
Exhaust back on. Checked all fluids, bled the hyd clutch and flushed all the crappy old fluid out. Put the new battery in and warmed her up again. And then drove her out the garage for first time in 7 years i think.....
Tada... took it for a spin...
Theres a video but cant upload it here unfortunately.... Weee bit of boost!! Will run it for a few miles and drop all the fluids, refresh it all and then start the list ive got of all the wee daft jobs that need done.
Couldn't have done it without the help from my big mate Jamie (the bloke finishing his beer in the back ground) 🤣 Really couldnt, he got me to get of my arse and dragged it out. Two wee shifts it took and job done.......well until i start the list of wee jobs. Top bloke.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
It’s great you’ve found the love for it again.

Yeah, took a while but i do love it. Already remembering why inleft it in the garage 🤣
Thanks mate. Now just got to do the long list.... you still fancy a crack at it? 👍
My mates two with mine after just before i took it home.
And driven in this time!
Pulled everything out today to paint the floor and sort the garage out so i can work on the damn thing. On the way home the throttle was sticking, i remember something about that from when i parked it up. Will need to get it on the list.

It's been a while.......
Cars back, now mechanically sound and all the bodges sorted. Has a new tank from Pro Alloy in with proper lift pump etc in it. Alot of tidying in the engine bay. Some new hoses, not all have arrived yet and the post office decided to lose the current ones for a month!! Full new brake lines. John noticed that the fronts were in the block for the rears and swapped them round to the correct positions! Changed rear diff seal as it was leaking. Changed cam seals for same reason.
Swedish inlet off, tidy a bunch of wiring etc and fit the new vapour blasted inlet manifold.
Had to reuse the billet fuel rail as i fkd up and bought a 2wd fuel rail that has -6 AN fittings on it. Didnt realise they had different mounting points.I have had it for years! So if anyone has a 4x4 rail with -6 on it id buy it.
All the work done by MV turbos, i had new cam pulleys but they were rough. Managed to get some more but need to get vapour blasted before fitting or might put a cam cover on. Im missing the front head spacer for it though. Cant seem to fine a new one. Panel filter in with a bit of finessing. John even managed to get the turbo heat shield to fit which is a god send due to the heat generated in this thing
Had to pull head lining off to fix two dents in the roof i had managed to put on it when I stored it in garage. While i did that i pulled carpet out and tried to fit the escort cosworth carpet ive kept for a decade! Didnt fit very well at all and decided it wasnt as good as my original effort so it got thrown on the bin.
Roof fixed again, was extremely happy about this. Was genuinely worried that i may have fkd it.
Interior back in and headlining sorted
Taken for its first run down to my mates. Hasnt been out in at least 7 or 8 years..... maybe more.
Out and nearly ready yesterday for its first show in a long time!
Made quite an impression on the public. There was usually a good few people round it all day.
I had fitted an engine bay sticker kit to give it more of a std look
Cracking day.
A great day at the show / fayre, took the car back to my mates for dinner. Been a long time coming but enjoying the car again finally.

Thanks mate, yeah it is nice being out again, always get a look and a thumbs up.
One thing I do need is a mk3 bonnet. I want to get cool louvres to make me a vented bonnet to help cool the engine bay down, I don't want to use mine as I don't want to "destroy" my original one. So if anyone has one please let me know.
I have noticed a very small oil leak on the ground in the garage so that is on the list too.
Next is the centre consol, I've never really been happy with it so looking for a mk1 sierra consol to make fit properly.
Gibby is going to vapour blast and paint the new seat runners i have for it too.
