had a 2000e which was running a 4x4 cosworth but was looking very sad.so thought i wouuld have a go at a focus 4x4 but a 5 door as they are half the cost..

cut up the sapphire but with the chassis rails..

so away i went at weekend i was hard at it ( the car )..that is ..

all work was looking bang on and on a went but never thought to fit the front wings on with a front wheel so got it wrong..

 

fair play mate looks awesome any pics of 2000e?

 

only i sent about 6 week before i put the wheel on.so now i am making a jig so that i get it and right ...

Remember if your going 4x4 you'll have to reset the front shock mounts to 40 inch as you wont have enough camber with the focus 42+ inch distance

keep up the good work the front wheels are easy fix with compression struts

 

been making a jig at work got it back home today.

will put the old track car on in then i know all the pick up points will be right..

 

also got hold of some steel bar for the front/rear subframes..

while i was there got some treaded bobbins for the jig so that the frame can be removed or i need to do a smaller wheel base car,i can more the front/rear frames in a bit should have more pics soon as got to move a lot of cars about none of which run yet,what are weekends for hay...

 

So.. how much would a 4x4 mk6 escort van set me back

Been given the geen light to do the conversion at work.
but must do it in my own time as the BOSS says that we can start doing them for customers.

Now that's my kind of thinking, I was thinking of doing an estate at one point but got too much to do (including getting back into work) before I consider doing any more.

 

ONLY GOT A FEW PICS THAT I CAN FIND NOW.
but any way this is my old mk1 cosworth powered.

and there is the mk4 escort cosworth about done,let alone the two sapphire track cars.

 

My Mrs says I have to slim down my collection.
I have 2 sapphires, a mk4 escort cabi, a P100 pickup, a chrysler voyager, A Suzuki GSXR750 and a Suzuki RM125.

 

It will be good to see this progress!

 

snap. got her indoors telling me that i have far too many cars parked outside the house/
looks like a scrap yard she says..
WHAT TO DO.
1. must keep the focus as the reg number has got the letters of the names of my best mates who have died
2.the escort i have spent a long time making the way i want it ie the cage ,suspension etc.
3. the sapphire was only got to reshell the older sapphire that i was using as a track car
would like some input as the escort or the sapphire must go as there can be only one race car but which one..

 

Just tell her to button it and keep all of them

I think I would have gone for a four door saloon for ultimate sleeper effect, but this should surprise a few people!

 

Christ and there's me sticking to stock bodywork and being a sleeper, having 2 extra doors just made it the one to beat Fair play to ya, really thinking out of the box

 

where does all the time go.weekends..thought i could strip the sapphire
fully so that i could yet it on the jig before a cut it up.
but only got ALL the WIRING out and the engine/gearbox+front
suspension only got the rear axle to go then its chop chop time...

For me mate it would have to be the sapphire that left the building.
If you have spent so much time and effort building the escort then that would be the one to keep, plus I like the shape of the escort more over a sapphire.

The focus just ticks all the boxes for me and with such an emotional tie it has to be kept.

 

got the sapphire to such a shell now.

thinking about putting the full floor/bulkhead in
as this floor only needs a few repairs.

+ all four inner arches are mint..

cut the front wings off and trimed the inners..

hope to get on jig soon but in the middle of the garage.

bricky comes to start on sat.hope to be done in a few weeks
then back to the focus.

 

sorry not had any time to work on the focus.
as the bricky who was building the garage has only
been two times in two months.
and in that time hes work is very poor and not level !

so i have knocked done what he has done and i will
have a go myself how hard can it be ?

answer very hard but this way money safed will go back
into the focus.

also while a was pick up my 7 1/2 ATB rear diff the front 4x4
diff with plate and drain plug was done..

so i can get the engine with big wing sump and diff ready....

oh why have you put a 2 course of bricks inbetween the blocks?

 

will some comp struts and adj top mounts sort the first one out but you should of really tryed the wings on first time i had all the front on mine before i welded it up

so will have to finsh them one at a time..

had a bit of a ran of sundays but still only me doing it ..

not done anthing on the focus yet got the steel for the jig

got the exta garage done. not done fully yet but. will be putting a better
roof on in spring/summer when its warmer..

got the inside stocked up with to many spare parts.can't have too many..

got a good deal off ebay on a second hand tyre rack so i could store them
off the wet cold floor. only i seam to have too many wheels as is full..

but gives me room to crack on with the other projects...

 

got a bit of a dilemm,as i have said before got this car as
the reg spells out mine,my dads & mine two best mates
names..who are no longer with us.
as andy was in to racing in a big way want to use this
focus to enter timeattack but not sure on the regulations
can it be entered as a rwd / 4wd or does it have to stay
as it was made ie.fwd.

and can the cage be fitted by say me.or have you got to
get it fitted by say ( custom cages ) with cert..
would like to build it with touring car spec seating etc.
