Default E30 Cosworth project

Hi all , I have been on here for a while and now have most parts for my Cosworth conversion. I did do one a while ago and there were many parts I was not happy with so this time I know where I went wrong.

I will be starting my project within the next few weeks with build pictures if enough positive feedback.

First I brought my old cosworth project back.

And stripped it.

I could not decide for ages to do a mk1 cosworth focus or a E30 cosworth. I think i have made the right decision.

I wanted something different without all the big bills.

careful now, its not a sport, its a 325. you need to get the terminolgy right or the originality bufties will stab you for molesting a genuine sport.

a clutch. that it . everything else is there from the custom mounts custom prop and exhaust. the wiring loom that will plug directly into the e30 socket and the l6 with stage1 chp. ported andpolished head, 20000 miles since new piston rings and stem seals, 10000 miles since new stage 2 t34.48. 1000 miles since new grpA headgasket as the head was removed to helicoil a couple of broken manifold studs. ive never blown a headgasket on this either.

i have everything included, a standard recored rad and a standard 2wd cooler plus lots of samco hoses. an l6 ecu with stage 1 chip, a t5, custom prop, custom stainless exhaust. no clutch and no air filter and the lower metal rad hose is missing but new ones are about Ł25 on ebay.
the t5 has been modified to use the bmw hydraulic clutch system.
did you miss my previous post as you posted at exactly the same time?
anyway best to pm me if your interested as were taking over the o/p's thread....

Hi mate good to hear from you .

alanfordtw-15 very cool, a sport will be savage with that much power.
i think it needs to be lowered more on the new wheels, is it standard height?

It is lowered 40mm and I agree it needs to be lower. I might get rid of the streached tyres as it makes the wheels look small.

alistairolsen I love the E30 shape, but why the shonky pinto engine?

Is this a serious question on a ford site ?

cossie*mad! I'm thinking of doing exatly the same thing!! i've got the complete running gear from my 450bhp cossie and LOVE e30's - could you do me a massive favour and list the things you need to go to get it to fit? would really appreciate it. cheers

Read what parts fuzzy is selling as he has all the parts needed.

didnt realise that it wasnt a gen sport, not that it matters when its a good looking e30 that will go fast
violence would def insue if someone was to do such work to a 'sport'!

The car is a 320 I SE with a 325 engine. I was looking out for a genuine sport shell but not much difference and cost alot more and as the engine is being removed I did not think it was worth it. The car will still be a 320 I (just the wrong 2.0 engine). The car also has no sunroof. There is a E30 M3 Cosworth in progress.

Thanks for all the positive responses so far.

the 320 shell will have the thinner front struts then? 45mmm instead of the heavier 51mm found on 325's and tourings?
have you already uprated the suspension?

Hi mate. I have some 51mm struts from my last car, LSD and rear disc breaks.

I also have a saftey devices 6 point cage but do not think I am going to use it as I want it to look standard.

heavy duty thick pistoned bilsteins b8 shocks are a good choice. mine on stage 1 coped with standard sized brakes but using ebc discs and red pads front and ebc discs and greens on the rear. it might be a bit to much for stage 3 though if your running that, bigger brakes would be recommended.
t5 on a custom prop with a 3.91 lsd?
