I used to do green laning on a DT, I didn’t really enjoy it as much as on my electric bike which doesn’t annoy people and can go off piste without worry.

i enjoy riding round the little country lanes seeing what is tucked away.

the only problem with the two strokes is how much your clothes smell after a ride.

What a difference a day makes. I have decided to not swap the DT to supermoto, instead I have found a 125 already converted.

Cool little bike. I sold this today for 900 day light hours mot left kick husky 610. I’ve no where to keep it anymore and not used it for over a year. So it’s money towards my engine.

I am just about to buy a TIG welder and taking lessons so I can do work on my 944 and even might do little bits on the 205 as long as I am good enough by then not to ruin anything. The company selling me the TIG have offered some free basic lessons and then there is a company in Essex who do Ł140 per day group lessons. I am buying a decent quality TIG and probably a higher end MIG at the same time along with one of the new high end auto welding helmets.
Is it coming back this weekend ?🥳🥳🥳

The lockdown means I cannot go up for my seat fitting and I should not be collecting. Mark is in working when he can. The lock down means that I will probably collect the car in June now ideally. My car transport bloke is working a bit but he has a new born so he is being careful too. I am taking the lock down seriously and will allow some time for that.

The gearbox does look tight in the pictures but it does come out easily enough as there is a lot more room now behind the engine as the bulkhead has been pulled back and all of the bolts can be easily got at from the engine side. One of the main briefs was to make room in the driver and passenger seating area as before the tunnel compromised the seating position. The 205 is a lot narrower than a Sierra or Escort. The engine is now chassis mounted so it is possible to lean the engine slightly to allow the 'box to angle down and out. I am not adverse to lowering the front cradle a little and dropping the engine a bit, if needed.

Before I used to wind 4 threaded bars up in to the chassis to replace the 19mm bolts holding the front subframe and then lower the engine on nuts about 2 inches or less, I could get the 'box out in around 40 mins all done.

He’s definitely working because he’s posting pictures of the work that’s doing....... not yours🙄

but apart from seat, it’s ready to be picked up??

seems really odd to me, if I say that I’m going have a job or project ready. It must be ready on that date, unless something really goes wrong.

It is no secret that it has massively run over. It has caused me much anguish and stress but I have made my peace with the choices I made.

The main metal work is done and it’s things like pipework and fuel tank fitting left. As soon as the lock down begins to lift I will apply the pressure to get the car back.

I expect Mark will compensate me with a free Martek frame and swing arm or the one for the ypvs engine when all is done. Lol.

let’s keep it positive. I do appreciate the concern but want to stick to the positives about the car.

I have just had a dream project delivered, I wanted one of these since I was 17, 29 years later I got around to it. This is not my one but this is the pic I sent to the body shop yesterday as the spec.

The plan is to make it mint, just as above and then later add the 350 ypvs engine which is a common conversion and with the 400+cc kit they can run 100 horsepower. I think they are under 130kg.

Next job was where to keep them. My garage was built for 4 cars and then had a double length garage workshop on the right hand side, it is (the work shop)a little narrower than a typical council style garage and twice the length so I had the space in front of it.

I followed the roof line of the workshop (my office is above the garage) getting materials has been a challenge.

The voids were insulated then clad in ply and then I clad that in upvc ship lap wood grain effect. I have ordered an elec roller door that arrives next week and a hard plastic floor. I can store both bikes and 2 or 3 push bikes in there (two bikes lift up on pulleys in to the roof apex). I will get a digger in to make a parking space in front before the whole drive gets done in resin bonded aggregate.

“getting materials has been a challenge.”

l tried to get wood a few weeks ago only B&Q or Wickes were open and neither would let me order online.
More places open now so I’ll have to get it done before I get a job.

Your new build looks great.

Aprilia supermoto frame fully stripped ready to go off and be dipped then powder coated.

Bought a book....this is really interesting and Ihighly recommend.

Pallet of floor tiles arrived for garage extension, these are not the squishy ones...laid it today.

What are the tiles like? I’m looking for a decent type but I’m worried about welding on them, I have asked a couple of companies but they won’t confirm if they are suitable..

My actual garage ones have held up to mig welding ok but some big spatters does melt them a bit.

These new ones seem softer to me, from bigdug, they are really quick to fit and will be perfect for parking push bikes and motorbikes on.

Stan Stevens ported my Honda MBX50 barrel back in 1983. Used to pull 65mph on it and got caught speeding on it😂cop said I was doing between 45 and 60mph in a 30😭

I have just had a look and they are fairly priced so I suppose as long as they don’t set on fire they would be better than the foam type I have. I really wanted a chequered style but I know I will be welding around them and don’t want to ruin the look

thanks for your kind offer, I’m probably going to just order a few so don’t need any sending, I was more interested in an actual opinion rather than Online reviews

Also with the box section under the gusset sections would surly make the car heavier than before? Only my opinion of course i’d just expect a better job considering the time and not doubt 30-40k he’s charging.

Ive done a few coded courses now for work once a year past four years on mig. One thing you learn is how a weld looks tells you absolutely nothing lol. It can look all nice and pretty and everyone stood round thinking he can weld. Then it gets cut in half and the chemical gets put on it to highlight penetration and it’s a terrible weld.
