Some people may remember this car was featured in maxpower in 1996 iirc. The car was originally converted by JDMotorsport.

I've actually had this car for a while now and it looked very dated when I 1st bought and hadn't really changed much from when it was featured in maxpower.

I've actually had this car for a while now and bought it with the main conversion already done but it looked very dated and hadn't really changed much from when it was featured in maxpower. When I 1st got the car I had to wait until I had had my garage built as I had just moved and needed to make sure I could afford to get that done 1st. Once it was completed I then made a start on the pug.

The 1st jobs were to sort the interior of the car out by ditching all the amps and subs and making the dash look more subtle. Then I had to

Fit rollcage
Fit Ali fuel tank and
Locate battery in the boot.
Fit a automatic fan as it is manually operated.(probably run it of the spa gauge)
Fit Profec B spec 2 boost controller
Fit Spa digital water temp and oil pressure gauge.
Fit Harnesses.(old seats will stay for now but may change them at a later date.

Ever since I have had the car it hasnt wanted to straighten up on its own so once all the above work had been done we started to do some work to improve it. We measured the castor angle and found that it was 2 degrees so after overhauling the column we wanted to increase the castor angle as much as possible. Unfortunatelty the bottom arm was already mounted as far as possible on the anti rollbar so we were left with 2 options. Move the top mount or move/extend the anti rollbar. After having a look around decided to buy blanks eccentric top mounts and cut the inner wing to move the centre point as far back as possible.

heres some before pics.

Once this was done he castor is now at 3.5 degrees. We were hoping to get more than that considering we moved the top mount by about 20mm but we werent surprised as I had done a few measurements before hand and thought it would only gain 1-2 degrees due to the length of the strut. Also we overhauled the steering column fitted a recon rack and also found the column was tight when going onto the rack so sorted that out and now seems as a lot better.

muppet 13-01-2007 11:31 PM

Eventually I decided on a new set of wheels. I couldn't think of what would go with the car so ended up getting a set of compomotive TH's refurbed.

Unfortunately it failed the mot just before christmas for the steering rack so replaced this along with a new rad and repalced all the front bushes for powerflex ones. I have still got the rear to do.

muppet 14-01-2007 04:05 PM

Thanks for all the comments.

I'd love to put the back windows in but it has always been a van and its a much bigger job than I 1st anticapted. Its something I have always planned on doing just a bit more grief than I thought. I have even got the windows and rubbers ready to do it just havn't had the courage to start.

Twins 14-01-2007 04:16 PM

rapidcossie 14-01-2007 04:41 PM

It is something I would very much like to do so it will probably happen at some point. I havent decided what I will do with the rear end yet either so will proabably get it all done at the same time. I have bought a dimma style rear wing but not sure if that might be a bit ott or not.

 :top: Like this, the new wheels look tough, give it the group b look somewhat!! Keep up the good work mate!

Spiky 15-01-2007 11:20 PM

new wheels are awesome dude

looks well sweet :top: :top: :top:

massivewangers 15-01-2007 11:31 PM

I think it looks awesome :top:

All I'd change is the mirrors for something more racey and the side repeaters cos oval ones don't suit the angular looks of the car. Oh, and the T16 badges, cos it ain't

Apart from that, the new wheels have made it look a proper weapon

AGAR-COSWORTH 16-01-2007 09:14 PM

Definatley heading in this right direction with this one :top:

Would that mean it would corner better due to the outside wheel being flatter to the road?
