Just bought a new Fiesta Si 1.6 16v thanx to chrissinut!!!!!
some pics........http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g21/oggyzetec/fiestasi.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g21/oggyzetec/fiestasi2.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g21/oggyzetec/fiestasi3.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g21/oggyzetec/fiestasi4.jpg
wot do ya think????
This is my first real project so here is the first part........
got up early and started to take appart my old donor car (fiesta xr2i 16v) sorry to see it go but oh well!!! the rust worm had a really good meal!!!!!!!!
But is not all bad, it did have full set of recaro's and 15" escort gti wheels and a bonus of a 61000 mile 1.8 16v engine
getting back to what i have done today, started with the recaro's being taken out and then the shaddy wing backs out of the si i noticed that the sub frames between the MK3 xr2i and the MK3.5 si!!!!!!!! so off came the recaro sub frames and put on the MK3.5 off the wing backs. but one side one each seat had to be welded because of the difference in fixings so that took longer than expected!!!
Next was to put the K+N off the xr2i on to the si, but when putting on the si, the jubilee which was on broke and being bank holliday no where was open!!!!!!
next was the rattling back box. the problem was the hook which is nearest to the back needed to be bent into possition, so it was a nice and easy job
thanx and many more up dates coming!!!!!!!
some pics tomorrow!!!!!!
sorry!
[/img]
Here's some pic's ov my xr2i that i'm using for the donor car. A real bad shame to see it go!!!!! it looks so gud in these pics!
these are the Reacro's thats in my si
So wot do ya think should be my nxt project on the si??? apart frm putting my gti wheels on it???
Oh yeah got my insurance today 456 quid for an 18yr old! very pleased with that frm liverpool victoria!

Put the si in for an mot on Friday came back with bad news!!!!!! Ł150 worth of welding due to offside front sub frame mount excessively corroded also nearside suspension component mounting excessively corroded also nearside rear wheel arch suspension mounting excessively corroded. Thats just the welding, next is steering column top bearing excessively worn, offside front McPherson strut insecure!!!!!!!
nearside front velocity joint gaiter insecurely mounted to its housing!!!!!!!!
nearside front anti-roll bar linkage insecure also offside!!!!!!!!!!!
nearside front suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement also offside!!!!!!!!!!!
also offside rear brake pipe inadequately supported!!!!!!!!!!
exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle test!!!!!!!!!!
So they are all 15 failures!!!!!!!! poo!!!!!!!!!!
My local garage said Ł400 for every thing but I said just do the welding. quoted Ł150. didn't think was to bad because he said it will take 5 hours of welding!!!!!!!!
As for the other bits, will drop both front suspension off the 2i and will get him to do the steering column bit.

Yesterday went and had a look at the car and saw where the mot place had chalked up where needed to be welded and their is one hole near the drivers door about the size of a Ł1. Then on the bottom of the chassis legs near the engine the part where the sub frame mounts to them needs doing, (both sides) and some round the back.
Went to my local car supplies and asked how much both wish bones would be and both drop links. Drop links Ł8.50 each and Wishbones Ł17.50 each very pleased!!!! Also cv joint Ł4.00 . Will be pickin those up on friday when i get paid. It all comes to Ł56 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All that needs to be done after them bits and the welding is just the steering colum, which i can get off the 2i. Also two bulbs.
So after every thing, it will have cost me Ł25 for the mot failure and Ł45 for the pass and Ł150 for the welding and Ł56 for the susspension bits!!!! total= Ł276 not bad to say people said scrap it!!!!!

Today just been putting on my new wish bones and drop links etc....
also BRG (Bury road garage) made a start on the welding. Whilst it was on the ramps i had a look at what needs to be done. A small hole near the sill on the drivers side also near where the wish bone connets to the chassis. Also the back two brackets where the brake pipe holds on to the body. Should be back on the road and freshly mot'd early end of this week.
Then i can start back on the project and acctually post some pic's!

Finally got some more pics up!!!!
Any way, eventually picked ma si up today, only ending up costing me 256 in the end!!!! very pleased!!!! After i picked it up i put my sony head unit in

Gave it a good wash on the outside aswel.....
Gave the interior a good clean aswel

Took some pics of some of the welding involved for the MOT. Sorry bout not taking them when the wheels were off or when it was being done. Here is the drivers side rear arch, where the brake pipe clip is(note the rust that needs attacking on the rear arch!!!

Pic of the drivers side at the bottom of the wing and going towards the passenger side

Note: the new, nice and shinny catalitic converter
Small hole on drivers side sill (size of 10p)

Welding on passenger side rear arch where brake pipe also connects to body:

Since having the cat put on i think it is much slower, so i think in the near future i will be requiring a nice s/s de-cat
All comments and question always welocome! cheerz
