Very dunk here so bear with me here
if you can diagnose your fuel pump problem at this stage,
use the in-tank twincam pump, on a seperate relay`d wiring loom to feed an external swirl pot, and use the cosworth pump to feed from the swirl pot to the engine.
both pumps relay`d and reliable once the issue is sorted.
i take it the fuel filter has been changed recently?

Or.................
Recently my mates sierra estate twin cam keep blowing fuel pumps we actually had to change 2 full sender and pump units , then on the 3rd time we couldn't get one .
After having taken it in and out the tank a few times, we realised that it looked the same as mk3 fiestas and mk5 escort pumps.
So we had the whole unit out of the tank pulled the pump off the bracket carefully you have to bend a tag out the way that supports it then unclipped the wiring .
We then put a mk3 fiesta SI pump back in
( we crossed referenced part numbers and they were the same )
What I'm trying to get at is that people put escort Cossie pumps in fiesta turbos .
So surely what we have done can be done with a escort Cossie pump.
Meaning that you ain't gotta change the tank/lines/filters add a swirl pot.

All very well saying add an external pump, or a swirl tank...
But surely the reason he's asking is because the in-tank pump is fucked, and needs replaced regardless ?
So anything external or add on, is a total waste of time.

When me and my mate did mine the first time, the original idea was to fit the sender and pump from the 24v Granada tank, reason being I had read a lot about people saying the twincam 8v pump is not suitable for the 24v Cosworth engine, so I wanted to make sure and use the pump that came with the engine in the Granada.
Some people say that the 8v twincam pump is alright but I wanted to rule out any doubts while I was fitting a new tank.

BUT the unit as a whole will not fit the Sierra tank so we had to swap the pump out of the 24v unit and put it in with the sender and feed pipe from the 8v...

So, you have two choices, use the in tank set up or buy a YB pump suited tank.
I don't like the mix and match idea personally, your best off keeping it as simple as possible to rule out any possible snags you may encounter.
Good luck whatever you decide.
