Hi guys, long time since I have been here but I have finally got a little of my passion back and decided to use the cossie again, it's been in my mums garage for the best part of 5 yrs!
However it has a few 'issues' initially the car wouldn't start at all, it just turned over, fuel pump was working fine, I removed cleaned and put back the crank sensor (tdc sensor) the car then started but ran very badly, over fueled and misfired at about 2500 revs, lots of black smoke and horrible pop and bang on boost, I got it back to fine and tried to find the fault, unsure if it was plugs I changed them, the old ones were BLACK but this is prob from the lack of use and infrequent starts it has had.
I checked all vacuum and boost hoes which seemed fine, and then checked the Ecu the car has a stage one chip and after removing this the misfire went although it still spluttered on boost, I concluded the connection from the Ecu was buggered and cleaned it up re-installed the chip and it worked. However the issue on boost was still there, it would cough and splutter a bit and sometimes cut the ignition for a second completely.
I tried to drive the car to work this morning to get it on a ramp, initially, for the first few miles it was ok, and even on boost it only had the very occasional cough, then I came to a roundabout! It cut the ignition completely and went to stall, I put it in a lower gear and it re-started for about 200 yards then cut again!
I pulled over and it stopped, initially wouldn't re-start, left it a min and it started again, I turned round and headed home!! Just about got there coughing and spluttering and having to keep it revving to stop it stalling!
Question is where do I start, given the car has been stood for a while, I'm not sure there is just one issue!
Many thanks
Phil

Mine's been off the road for a similar time and (although mine is empty because of my resto) I'm wondering if its just old fuel. Might be worth draining the tank and putting new fuel through it (and a new fuel filter perhaps). Last time I started mine up it popped and banged a bit but I'm pretty sure that's what it probably was. Certainly nothing to lose by trying it.
