try charging the battery over night. they can be a bit fussy when the voltage drops a bit.

have u tried another key to start it?tbh if it cranks over it doesnt sound like an immobiliser issue.i suspect its either camshaft sensor or injector fault.might even be all the fuel has returned to the tank and the pump isnt pulling it up

As above, i recently ran out of fuel in my mercedes vito cdi. It didn't cough or splutter, i just went to the shop, come back out and she wouldn't start!
Started with a tow then coughed and spluttered to a halt about a mile later.
May be worth trying to bump it off and see if that works.

i still wouldn't rule the battery out until its had a good charge as they can appear to be fine and crank well but running the starter can make it dip just bellow the required voltage for the electronics to work properly and fire it up. seen it before with my dad's mondeo tdci.

does the immobiliser light illuminate/flash when the car is locked?

Hi no immobiliser light at all although car locks and unlocks with key button as normal. Tried clock in another car today and red light flashes as it should. Any one have more info on immobiliser circuit?

Hi 2004 Mondeo TDCI may be injector trouble wont start. Has anyone connected an injector to the common rail but externally on a healthy car. I have tried this today one at a time with each injector, electric connected and engine running (on 3 cyls) each of my injectors from the non running car dont inject any fuel! Surely all 4 unlikely to be faulty, not sure of history on the car 100,000 miles any advice appreciated!

the fuel pumps break up inside, and clog the injectors, all 4!. iv had this a few times now. usually get fault codes first though, and it cuts out on high load, usually restarts for a while before it completely dies. checck for fuel contamination. if it is this, then it needs 4 injectors, fuel pump and tank drain and clean

The injectors/pump are incredibly fragile, and buying a 'mis-fuelled' TDCI is never ever going to be a cheap option.

I'd check the fault codes and I suspect you'll have P1211, and P0251. If that's the case then unless the car is incredibly clean, it's not going to be worth fixing.

If you have access to another TDCI try swapping over the cam sensor, and also make sure the fuel filter is filled to the brim with fuel just in case that's why it's not starting.

how is the injector connected? like normal but spraying into a cup instead of the cylinder? ifso id expect a good injector to spray fuel, all be it a verry fine mist. and yess when the pumps break down, they still produce normal pressure, its the injectors that clog that cause it not to start, and the pump causing the injectors to clog
if you can do the work your self, its 100 for a second hand pump, and around Ł90 per injector (recon)

The connecting a injector to another car won't work unless you have coded the injector into the good car.
