I would just get a full mk4 xr3i EFI model wiring harness and swap it. You might have to alter the rear light multi plugs if the differ from a car but otherwise I would think its straight forward. My mk4 escort was a 1.4 carb model and its now running a zetec turbo using a mk4 xr3i EFI harness with frst management.

There is loads of advantages to fitting a full efi loom aswell. You have the option of adding electric windows, central locking, electric mirrors, fuel computer etc as it comes as part of the loom, just need the motors and switches etc. Obviously its more work fitting a full loom but I think its a better job done in the end.
