That's been the worst part of it Matt,dealing with some traders as been nightmare,I'm going through the same shit now with the guy that's doing my dash atm.
What's happened to your saph have you just stopped using it?

Mine, well we've got a little boy now and that changes things lol and with having the focus as well it gives me the buzz I needed, but for some reason I miss driving the old bone!! So the roll bars and a few other bits are off getting powder coated so I might even bother getting on the road for a bit this year!

 

Jeff this is an epic restoration and car. I have just read it all from the start and you have put some serious hours into this its stunning. I have recently bought a moonstone 3 Dr with the same rims and will be doing a resto on that. This thread will be very helpful.

 

Matt with him messing me around i wouldn't recommend him mate,I wouldn't do that to you,I'll be popping in to see him unannounced to give him a kick in the ass.
Would love a focus rs myself but couldnt justify the expense as my last daily only covered around 1000 miles a year.


Have put a load of hours in rich,it's took so long to do due to work and family commitments,i wouldn't like to do it again mainly down to the cost of parts now.

got rained off today so decided to paint my 3 spoke steering wheel,ive been quoted Ł120 to have it re-trimmed so had to paint it before I send it off.

still waiting on the dash though

it is mate,tbh once the dash is back in I could have it mot'd and on the road,will need set up properly and I want a new exhaust on it then I'll be happy,role on next year.

 

not updated for a while but ive done bits and pieces,ive had the rev-counter back from speedy cables it now works with wasted spark



had problems with the small rubber hose on the fuel rail leaking so had an AN6 fitting welded to my fpr.

bought and fitted new boot struts,the 28 year old ones just couldn't cope with the addition of the 500 boot spoilers.

bought a new screen for my SECS monitor,you can see the original has gone faulty.


ive been informed that the dash top is now painted and the lower dash will be done soon,so hopfully have that to get one with next weekend.

 

got the dash back today,not 100% but better than it was before.

I struggled to unsolder the screen from the board,so bought a whole new monitor as part of a deal,ill have another go when I find the time.

 

Ah Mike It is a fiddle like i said but i am sure you will sort it.
The new one looks nice and will prob be better made.

 

probably easier cutting the 16 wires between the boards to help split them,I'll have another go and probably sell it on.

yes mate i hope so,just the interior to finish off this weekend I'd like an exhaust made for it and it needs mapped,so not far away now.
start looking for insurance after the new year see how much I'm gonna get ripped off lol.

 

Love this , it really is a credit to you. I've read through it a couple of times now(mainly to pilfer your ideas!lol) no mainly to grab some inspiration as the detail you've put in is second to none. Congrats.

I would like to ask a couple of things if you don't mind. Have you had a chance to check out the clutch yet and whether the master you bought is correct at all. Also, i'm in the final stages of stripping it down and just taking time marking things up etc and just wondered if you've got any tips on taking off the rear window trims at all. I've got some replacements for the fronts but just wondered if the rears buckle at all.

thanks for your kind words Matt.
all I can do atm is pull the car forward and back a couple of metres untill it's insured and I can get it along the road,it seems to be working well but I've not put any power through it yet.
with regards the rear windows a friend of mine who's a fitter came round and took the glass out for me,you cut the glass and trim out in one go don't try to remove the trim first as it's clipped to the glass.the side glass is a pig to get out but use one of those long Stanley blades and take your time.

 

only done an hour or so today before the heavens opened.
got the jack cover fitted and radio/amp that's all.

 

Thanks v. much for that. I would've probably ended up destroying them. I'll wait to see how you get on clutch wise as i'm not to sure whether to go center push or bellhouse mounted slave. Maybe back bending your ear again if you don't mind. Thanks again

had to try the gauges in place.

 

only had an hour on it today before I got dragged to the park with the bairn.
ecu monitor connected.

noticed rev counter needs adjusted to suit monitor.

spoke to karl@norris motorsport during the week,cars now booked in for mapping april 4th

thanks gav,its getting there now,been a while but the ends in sight now,or at least till something breaks

just a couple of small jobs today,had to remove the clocks again to adjust the rev counter as it was out compared to the ecu monitor,had the car jacked up and in gear just to check that the speedo work ok,which it didnthad to remove and intall it again a couple of times so it connected properly,all good now.
just a matter of putting the plastics back on around the ignition column and changed the steering wheel over.

just the gauges to wire up and do an oil and filter change and its ready for the road.

 

todays work,wired in the gauges today,really pleased with them,pretty accurate aswell.
painted the gauge holder first.

The next ones up from yours can change colour.

Can u not change bulbs? I use green leds in my ford racing gauges.

 

Yeah these ones were expensive enough,might send an email to stack to check if they can be swapped.
