Seen this car Sunday when I was collecting an engine from mark
some FANTASTIC engineering going into this car the roll cage is a work of art
the welds and fit are spot on.
When finished it will be one hell of a car.

Hi Mate,

We are trying to get a date together for me to travel up there. We think the car will be very close to finished in time. I have thrown another job at Mark as we are exploring a remake of the exhaust in Titanium. Mark and I had a long chat on the phone the other weekend and we are very much on the same page.

Because Toby has bundles of money and an aching to build his ultimate machine I’m guessing. I hope you do get it done soon Toby. No one deserves to get messed about by Mark Walker. He’s put an end to many builds by destroying peoples dreams and time scales, he just doesn’t care as long as he gets paid. You more than most I’ve seen on here have helped others. I hope its as good as it should be. After all its hugely over schedule so it should be!

Thanks guys. Yes, the titanium is an extravagance but seeing as I paid 650 for a battery to save 10 kilos it seems silly not to save weight off the heavy exhaust. Titanium can sit at the bottom of the ocean for 10 yrs and it will still come out similar to how it went in (with a wipe off) and it is so light it feels like Whitchcraft. The whole cage and cradles are t45 for the same reason. Every bolt that does not need a specific tensile strength is titanium. It’s only grams here and there but it’s amazing how quickly you get in to kilos. Every bolt is cut to min length, no overhang to waste weight.

that does become an issue I guess. Possibly under 1000kg and all that power and not a lot to push it down but I would prefer to add back weight in the right place if needed.

About 12 yrs ago I was given a guided tour of the Williams F1 facility, they have min weights they have to hit. They had something that I think was called denso something, they added it to strategic places to get back to the min weight but adding it where it was beneficial, he passed me a bit about the size of a cigarette pack and it was like picking up a massive roll of lead.

Luckily Mark does a lot of work with the bike teams so he was able to supply me with all the titanium bolts as a gift. Ł6 a bolt is a bit steep if I was to buy them.

my current efr won’t have any more boost to give on the stroker and the 76...next one up will run out of puff around 630bhp we think.

‘odd thing is, one of my favourite cars is a red Ferrari 355 spider with cream leather, I very nearly bought one for 45k, they are now 100k doh, I will have spent the same on the 205 nearly but it will be unique. Gone off the idea of buying the Ferrari now and want an R8 V10 lol

It was crazy fast acceleration with 469 bhp, it is now 150 kg lighter. Doors alone were 50 kg saving. Rear beam in t45 is massively lighter than the Sierra beam and boot was another 20kg...10 on battery and 20 ish on seats etc...

I bought Stuart Mckay’s engine out of the WRC fiesta though, funnily enough. I believe HE paid around Ł26k all up but I didn’t buy ecu, turbo or inlet.

I have it all written down but I know it has arrow crank stroked 2.2 limered block. I can’t remember the pistons and rods. It has a Neil roper head, Newman cams to Harvey’s spec, uprated oil pump to Wrc system and breather, big wing sump. 10 long studs and oil squirt jets. It ran over 710bhp andI think it did 730 something on race fuel.

I am likely to swap to Mark Sheads cams to suit the turbo I use.
