A female friend of mine had 6 points on her license, 3 of them come off in march. But last december she got caught twice speeding in a 30 zone giving her a potential of 12 points and a ban. She had sent the forms back saying she should be dealt with in court, but not learning her lesson got caught again this month.

Her dilema is will she be banned and what should she do with the last points pay the fine or go to court. she needs her car for work as she is a single and a child to get to work

Thats a bit harsh. It was a mobile camera each time in the same place. She was just driving along with the rest of the traffic

if she has a m8 that could take the points for her to get out of troble and say she wasnt driving the car at the time. and give her m8 a few hundred pounds

 

so she is looking at potentially 15 points

looks like she has learnt a harsh lesson, dont speed is the answer then you dont have to get out of situations like this

She will get banned IMO, and she probably deserves to!!! She should have thought about what she would do without her license before getting caught FIVE times!!!

We all speed, but getting done five times (presumably in less than 6 years) sounds like she drives around in built up areas, at speed, regularly, without the faintest idea what is going on around her

It's not a case of not speeding, just exercising a little common sense and observation imo.

Getting caught that many times deserves to be banned imo, obviously drives along in her own little world

 

5 times is reckless, a ban will teach her the lesson she needs,do the crime do the time.ive been banned myself in the past,makes you think twice especially if shes got a kid in the car

She's going to fry. Even if she just paid the fine, she gets 3 points. Going to court and getting convicted could give her more or a bigger fine.

I agree. My eyes are always scanning for fixed and mobile cameras even though I am doing nothing wrong 99% of the time. They are out there to get you to raise revenue.

 

sound to me as she should definatly be banned,next time she is so oblivious to here suroundings it could easily be a small child she is running over,you dont seriously want to help this person do that do you?
the speed limit is there for a reason,all drivers should be aware of that!!

 

theres a small chance she might get off it all depends how leniant the judge is, the court take lots of factors into account when u get done for speeding and are facing a possible ban i.e..how fast over the limit they were doing, do they NEED the car for work, shes also a single parent aswell,..........id say ban her but she might get either a big fine and no ban, a biggish fine and a small ban, or a smaller fine and a long ban?????.......who knows

 

She got caught in the same place more than once ? IMO You would have to be really dumb for that to happen. The roads are probably safer without her

getting done on the same road TWICE IS stupid,,,,,,,, that means she cant have noticed YET ANOTHER van on the side of the road where she got done before

sory but she has no control over that car, she cant abide to not speed on roads where she has been done before,,,,, all that following traffic is bollox too, that means that all them cars on that road are doing more than the speed limit and they ALL would get nicked


dont get me wrong,,,, speeding is one of my past times BUT if she cant see a camera that was there the week before and get done again i doubt shes gonna see my little girl running in the road for her ball



think a few months on public transport may teach her a lesson,,,, it worked with me and now i only speed when i feel i can get away with it,,,,,,, and the roads i got nicked on i tend to pay more attention

Go and get legal aid, take it to court and plead guilty. State that you will lose your job without the car and they'll prob fine the fck out of you but let you hang onto the licence!

I get this all the time as they usually overtake in the 30mph zone in town then you catch up in the 60 zone and find them doing no faster than 40mph incase they rip off thier pathetic bodykit or buckle thier spastic chrome effect "motorworld" 20" wheels with rubber band tyres.

Then they get upset when you overtake them because they are slowing me down.

At least I get to laugh at them when they understeer into the kerb. Watched some twat in my rear mirror understeer off a roundabout into the kerb bending his front suspension. Took great delight laughing at him when i came back the other way!

where i live its near the countyside so your going through alot of small villages, went through one the other day slowed down to 30 and some twat behind decides he is gonna overtake cus im not going fast enough for him, then when you catch up with him he is doin 40 in a 60 zone.

Sounds like the same situation one of our mates got herself into. She's a single mum too and needed her car for work. She got caught by the same FIXED camera 4 times on the way to her mum's house. She had only been driving two years. Obviously my mate was far more stupid than yours just based on the fact the camera was fixed. Anyway, point is she argued in court she needed her car for work and to take her kid to nursery, they didn't buy it and she got a 6 month ban. In those six months she had to give up her parttime job and her old banger bit the bullet cos it wasn't being driven. Your friend might be more fortunate but doesn't look good
