Default Range on Truvelo Cameras?

As title, what distance do they measure from?

They dont seem to have road markings like Gatsos, just 3 long close lines about 10 yards in front of the camera.

Forward Facing Truvelo - Doesnt Flash and is Undetectable by any Radar Detector.

Rubber Strips in the road calculate your speed and the Truvelo Camera captures your Reg and Face for prosecution later.

Watch for the Red Lens which uses light and a series of rubber sensor lines in the road to record time taken to travel over a set distance. These cameras dont flash (it would be dangerous) and were developed to ease identification of the person driving the car when it came to issung a fine. Doesnt work on Motor Bikes as they have no front number plate.

There ya go!

Truvelo Speed Cameras
The forward facing Truvelo camera system is designed to take photographs of the front of a passing vehicle, this allows the picture taken to show the driver of the vehicle as well.

To avoid the 'flash' which is given out by a rear facing Gatso camera the Truvelo system uses an infra red flash which produces no visible 'flash' to the approaching driver. These rely on 3 white-lines in the road, painted just before the camera, and are triggered by strips in the road, used to gain the vehicles speed.

Truvelo cameras are becoming increasingly more commonplace, counties such as Northamptonshire use predominately only Truvelo cameras.

Cheers Andy but what does that mean?

Does it only record the speed you were doing once you got to the white lines............... what about if you were about 100 yards away?

Fantastic!

I managed to get within the speed limit about 60 yards away from the camera so ive possibly escaped that one, unfortunately I think a mobile unit got me doing around 46 in a 40 only 20 mins beforehand.

Nitemare afternoon

Wasn't quite what I said at the time Rich

Gutted about the mobile unit tho, it was on a road in Northampton that's notorious for cameras and I was sat at 40 for ages, but I needed to get in the right hand lane and I had a car sat on my rear quarter in the right hand lane also sat at 40, so I sped up slightly to pull in front of him and there was the Mobile unit, hiding round the bend, fingers crossed my speedo is out by a couple of miles

Yes, but the GPS detectors show them coming up and saved me having points a few times

They put them on bends, so they catch you just as they come into view

I got the Snooper S6R Neo, great for the fixed cameras, crap for the mobile ones

They do flash, anyone who says otherwise hasnt seen one go off.

The flash isnt as bright as a Gatso for obvious reasons and they use a magneta filter to dull it.

I've seen the one in Chalfont St Peter go off on numerous occasions, mainly as its outside an ambulance station

Truvelo's dont use Radar, it isnt tripped untill you cross the lines in the road

Did`nt take you long Clare to start collecting again.

Remember collect four and win a pushbike

As said above before the lines no problem, its over the lines that counts.

Three metal strips that measure your vehicles progress across all three to calculate speed.

Also the other plus with certain bikes is that there is not enough metal to activate

the strips ie Ducati mostly alloy and plastic.

Drive safely my dear.

Cheers Dick, I think im safe on the Truvelo, totally forgot it was there

But i'll be gutted if the mobile unit got me, as said above I was sticking to the limit until the very last moment when I needed to change lanes.

Whats the tolerance in Northants?
