I know it's been done but I want to get the idea of how hard this swap is. Also is there any chance of being able to use the 6 speed st box at all? Hopefully someone can help. All help will be appreciated.
I have a 1988 xr3i which has all been restored but now I want to put the st engine in now!

 

You can fit the box, but you'll need custom mounts and a bit of work on the inner wing to create the room

 

Pretty sure the inner wing/chassis leg doesn't need touching like when fitting the MTX75.
Like said custom mounts, driveshafts, hydraulic clutch conversion, speedo will need a work around.

I also believe the shift tower on the 6 speed conflicts with the brake servo set up so agaiin that needs potential work around.
