Default Sierra Automatic problems

Hi, we have a 1.8 auto Sierra. It won't pull away in drive, nothing at all happens. If you put it into 3 it will pull away and drive fine. If put from 3 into drive when up to speed it will go into 4 and will drive fine but won't go back down by itself when slowing down and theres no kickdown. What could be the problem? Any help appreciated

Ever had an oil change? It does sound properly fucked though, so you might be better off trying to find a new box...scorpio/granada A4LD box is the same, only with electric speedo, but I don't know if it fits a 1.8, as we never had automatic Sierras with smaller than 2.0 over here. So swap the engine for a bigger one while at it

As tempting it is to just change to a bigger engine and manual we want to try and keep it standard as it's such a clean car.
R4N SS: we could be interested in that, do you know if the torque convertors are the same as sierras? Thanks

The straightest answer you will get is from the Sierra Oracle.

You can find him over on the Sierra forum, goes by the name of Stixy.

change the fluid first and see if it's at the correct level, so it needs to be warm and engine running

the auto boxes are different from car to car, the 24v has at least 3 different versions and while they are all interchangeable you need to know which one you've got first, even though they will all be the 4ld things
