A friend of a friend has just bought an RST
When driving it back from Liverpool it lost most of its power and started to smoke under load and use oil.
It has a new turbo fitted.
I just went to have a look at it and the intercooler was full of oil as where the boost pipes.
The engine sounds a little lumpy but ends arn't knocking.
I did a comp test and the results were as follows:-
No1 = 70
No2 = 125
No3 = 100
No3 = 120
I have my own oppinion as to what is wrong but would like to hear yours!
Cheers Spadge...

Does it only smoke under load or does it smoke on tick over??
If a piston or a ring has failed then the oil will be blown into the airflow meter through the breather system and sucked back in by the turbo, thus filling up the cooler and pipes.
Is the car misfiring at all?

Spadge, put some oil down the bores with an oil can and do the test again.
If the results are the same, it is probably head gasket or vlaves. If the compression comes up, it's rings/piston related.

sounds like its cracked the piston between the rings too me resulting in bad compression which results into the oil being forced through the breather system in too cooler
ive had this problem many times before years ago with rs turbos
