Default Ignition problem

Hey, long time since i posted here but i've got a problem recently.
So the old distributor gave up on me last week, sourced another one and found a brand new one!
The seller said i belongs to a mk4 rst, so i installed it and used the same timing as my old distributor.
Just couldn't get it to start.. so i tried max advance and it fired right up!
Used the timing light and even on max advance i only get 8 degrees!!
That's with the vacuum line to the computer connected !
Checked the cambelt timing, spot on.
Can someone tell me what's going on here?
is there a difference between the s1 and s2 distributor as i'm thinking it's an s1 one.

Thanks

Your ignition ECU (Silver one) could be at fault, the MAP sensor fails leaving the timing static, often at 8 degrees.

already switched it for another ecu but the problem remains the same.
Guy i bought it of said it was in working condition, still looks like new too.
Still possible that it's not working correct, i'll try to find another one!
Not easy to find one here though
Forgot to mention! when i unplug the vacuum from the ecu (vacuum is plugged, not open) , the timing goes to 3-4 degrees and it does run harsh at that stage!

Default Ignition problem

There are different dizzy's and the lead position is different. Are you maybe wrong on the position? Mine is 180 degr turned compaired to what maniak says. However the 8 degr sounds unlogic then
