buying a car with no keys.
Hello, i am completely new to this forum but i have a dilemma i need help with.
I am going to look at a mk1 sierra tomorrow that belongs to someone i know who has been banned from driving.
he drove it through a hedge and kind of messed it up
only problem is that he lost the keys some time ago and has been driving it unlocked with the ignition barrel all in pieces.
does anyone know how i go about getting new keys for a car that old?
my guess would be my nearest ford dealership, but i was just checking.
i should point out he does actually own the car, he has all the logbook and everything!
thanks!
EDIT:
sorry, i just realised this is in the wrong place, i guess it should be in relics?

for a rough price

but as that's for the mk2 it might not fit the mk1

Just been and looked at it, and I am not too sure about it now.
It is full of empty beer cans and rubbish, and the owner thinks the keys might be in the rubbish somewhere.
It had no water in the expansion tank, so I filled it up and started it, it ran OK for a while but the water level didn't drop in the tank. It might have already had plenty of water in the system, but I'm worried the water pump is not working.
It also cut out when it started to get warm and wouldn't idle properly. It is a 1.8 pinto I think, but I'm a bit rusty with old Ford stuff.
There is also alot of bad rot on the drivers side rear arch, and the sill has been badly repaired on that side too.
Oh and the owner said he thinks the clutch us on it's way out.
All in all, it's pretty rough. But it is a manual rwd car and I only need it to last 1 year. And it is only 50 notes.....
Should I go for it?

Break it and weigh it in. You will make a few beer tokens to buy full beer cans.

scrap man offered him £25 to take it away, which is why i said id give him 50.
normally i would just walk away from it, but my current runabout is on its last legs, and i'd rather spend the money on a sierra than a knackered peugeot partner van.
you can still cover rotten arches with duct tape for an MOT , right?
