Default Insurance - Agreed Value. Is it worth a toss?

The time is coming to think about insurance, I am quite worried that should anything happen to my car I get paid out an insulting amount for all the hard work and modifications done to the car.

Is it worth paying extra for an "Agreed Value" or not?

In my eyes, an Agreed Value is me saying my car is worth X amount, and the insurance giving me that should the worst happen, right?

Thanks guys

you will probably need a valuation from a 'recognised body' RSOC S2 Registrar is usually a good place to start..
They are unlikely to accept your own considered opinion of value on it's own..

You need to get it valued by someone the insurance company agrees as an expert. Like richm says, the RSOC is a good start.

Then, if it gets nicked/written off, you get what you agreed on.

Thanks guys

My plan was to get it valued by the registrar, but I can't see that happening for a couple of months, I just wondered what the deal is with "agreed values".

Generally until they have the valuation in their hand, it will be treated on a 'market value' basis.

I've got agreed value on mine through HIC, basically they just wanted photos to prove its all in good order.

Mines been done for £3k and it cost £15 extra.... worth it I think
