Default Tamiya miniatures

Was just looking through my cupboard for my lost torch and came across these, thought I'd post some pics as stuff like this would interest me..

Tamiya enthusiasts may find these quite interesting. Bought them a few years ago from Japan. As I understand it they came free with coffee or something.

There are 11 available, 10 listed and one 'secret' car. Unfortunately I don't have the secret one! I assume someone had these as excess after trying to get the secret one. I got them off eBay Japan.

Apart from the Grasshopper they are all still unbuilt in their packs. Although I could disassemble the Grasshopper as the packet is open without damage.

Hoping they may be worth a few quid in years to come!

The chap also sent me a little Kyosho Alfa too, again have its packet etc. that one is metal.

They are dinky aren't they!

Wouldn't mind the missing one, it's the Avante aparantly. I can't find any pics of it online though.

Had a look at some pics of them built up, the Top Force car looks really smart. I'll find a pic tomorrow, really need some sleep now lol.

I had the Lunchbox when it first came out, got the midnight pumpkin shell for it too. Never had a Grasshopper, my first was a Hornet. Best one I had was the Porsche 959, lovely kit. They are worth a few quid these days!

I'd like a mint one of these, 911 GT2 Taisan..

I have the Toyota Celica GrB (although now in bits) that was come fully ball raced and a special ball bearing centre diff. Both these and the 959 are going for over £500 now.

Seeing all of them together, I'm trying to think of the last car I had, think it was the Thunder Shot...
It's sat in my parents loft somewhere, keep meaning to go and get it out...

They also had a technic gold motor ( quick in there day )
Put one of the in a brat and you could maintain a wheelie lol

My dad has a celica and brat in the loft
And a brand new technic gold motor in the box never run

What ever you do don't brake the celica shell
As there like hens teeth to get

The one you want tho is the blazing blazer
That's the daddy of them all lol

Sadly the celica shell is quite badly damaged and needs replacing. Ive not seen another for sale only replica ones. I would love to rebuild it and get it back on the go and repair the damage done to it. Although I did find out using the gravel geared diff and the tarmac pinion gear with the trim adjusted on the motor it would go like a rocket. I'm sure the spec said it could do approx 30-40mph flat out (providing it would go in a straight line lol)

I put the technigold in my Hornet and ball raced it all, with the right gear on the motor it'd flip over backwards lol

I bought one for my RX7 Tamiya a few years ago and it hardly made any difference. Seems strange? It came new from eBay and was a bit cheap, maybe fake. Seem to remember the technigold being expensive when they were new back in the day.

Anyone remember the next motor up from Tamiya, Dynatech IIRC

I started with a falcon which got nicked out my parents car only days after Christmas when I was about 10.
Next was a manta ray which got ball raced and which I attempted to start racing but couldn't get the hang of the controls when the car was coming towards you

Next was a kyosho escort cosworth which was shit slow !

Had all sorts in between including nitro which are too loud.

I remember technigold motors but I think the best 540,s are now black but can't remember the name but are tamiya?

I've still got a 1:10 tamiya mk1 focus shelf queen in the spare room with hop ups which was raced by the previous owner...

The brushless motors now are immense !
