Dishwashers work a treat - been done many times on MTB parts that one
I have yet to pluck up the courage to try car bits like (although I have used it on Radiator caps and Power Steering caps!)
Neil.

other half is out for the day tomorrow gonna try me spare head in the dishwasher and see what it comes out like. Drying shouldn't be problem as most dishwashers have a drying cycle.
Will post before and after pics tomorrow

Done loads of plastic header tanks and washer fluid bottles inb dishwasher.. YOu know when they go really manky and yellowy-brown and you can't see shit in em? Whack em through dishwasher and when they come out you can't tell difference between old and new I swear

don't forget something like a head casting will stay hot for a long time afterwards, so don't burn your fingers getting it out in a hurry when you hear her coming in the door ..

Are you sure you didn't do that in my dishwasher? kitchen units and the dishwasher are exactly the same as mine

What I like best about richm's pic is that he's actually stuck a few plates and bowls in there too, looks to me like he offered to load the dish washer for the missus and snuck the cam cover in, classic pic
