Default BMW 320 diesels??

As some may know I am soon going tube I'm the market for some topless action. The original plan was a 225 Audi TT but a few folk think I will struggle being 6'1". Started looking at Bmw's again and an 06 E46 has appeared locally but is a 320d. Are these worth a punt as worried it will feel dull but thinking a remap might make up for that a bit.

Anybody with experience?

The 320ds don't have the abundance of torque of the 3.0 diesel but also don't have the same economy issues

An 06 e46 is rare, is it a coupe as they are very nice cars

Is it the 320d that has the swirl flap issues? Not sure, but sure someone will confirm...
Not that it's much work to remove them iirc?

Yeah my mates got a touring one, he replaced the swirl flaps with a set of metal plates off some Bmw specialist online

Interesting to know, I thought it was a case of binning off the original ones and remap it....? Easier to just replace with metal ones!!

Easy DIY job did mine with blanking plates.

I had a 320d e46 & it was a very good trouble free car, went well & was great on derv.

I'm 6ft and get in and out the other halves TT 225 fine. Don't discount it without trying it as it's a great car.

If a convertible floats your boat then could do worse than a convertible V6 TT as they sound nice. Although the image that creates for a bloke isn't necessarily the best in either a TT or 3 series convertible.

i wouldn't want a diesel convertible, i'd be getting a 3.0 petrol.

unless you are doing lots of miles

Agreed with above, convertible diesels just aren't right!

I had an E46 330ci Convertible and the straight 6 was a joy to listen to with the roof down and was still returning high 20's around town. Unless you are doing 15k+ a year then go for the petrol.
