Default vectra GSI

right anyone know anything about these as im looking at getting a 99' on model [facelift] to use everyday, looking for an estate as well

really like the look of these and i know they have a better engine than than the equivalent ford and sooo much cheaper to insure than an st200, but dont know much else about them?

what are they like on fuel?
reliability?
running costs?

so any owners on here?

thanks

Only bad thing I'v eheard of is the plastic timing gear shattering. Mates old man has had three V6 Vectra's and 2 of them have done this Can be a bit juicy even if you aren't lead footed.

One of my mates picked one up for £900. Thought it would be a dog for the cash but there was fook all wrong with it. Well until his ex threw paint stripper all over it after she found out he'd been rodding her mate

iirc GSi was V6 only, SRi was 2.0l 16v or V6.

Tiffs was V6 though iirc

my mates got a vectra gsi. got a 3litre omega engine, btb downpipes and exhaust etc. r/roaded at 224bhp.will be in total vauxhall in next month or so. was photographed last weekend. it so makes me want 1. he had trouble with noisy lifters but nothing major. real good cars in my opinion.
another mate swapped his fooked cav sri, ps2 and a in car monitor for a s plate vectra gsi. real nice. he really doesnt deserve it tho

Nope 2.0 upwards
Gearboxes are absolute shit on manual Vectras m8, but that's about it.
Engines sure, but no more then the average ford.

Dont forget to make sure its had a coil pack mate. Remember i was asked for £666 to replace the coil pack and leads by our local freindly dealer Did it myself but it still cost £300 but as you can guess, if i did it myself it must have been an easy job I also seem to remember there being a problem with the oil cooler/oil filter housing thing and to make sure that its been replaced as the original ones cracked and were superceeded or something like that

i had a black Vplate 4dr gsi and it sounded great as i had a K&N filter on it

but the car its self was rubbish, it was sooooo slow and not built very well and i sold
it after a few months,

i now have a V plate golf gti and thats much better as a
daily drive

just selt my v6 vectra

the faults i had with it were exhaust manifold gasket blowing ( common fault i was told ) water pump leaking, air con looses charge quickly, i had the car 4 years and done 60k miles in it from new. was still on its original disks and pads at 57k. i took the car to the main vauxhall dealer at 57k and had the cambelt done , full kit with tensioners etc, water pump changed, service and it came to £350.
