Please watch....
I doubt if any of us on here can 100% claim to be perfect drivers, I know I do things that I shouldn't even when I have passengers on board but hopefully watching this might just make a few of us think more about what we are doing.

Yeh it does make you think. Drinking and driving is justs stupid. So is being on your mobile phone whilst in charge of a motor vehicle.
I think if people worked together on the roads like letting people out of junctions people wouldn't get pissed off with other drivers.
The same as if people used there indicators so other drivers knew what you we're doing. Another one of my pet hates is people going over weekend lanes of a roundabout and not going round it in 1 lane. People are just getting lazy when there behind the wheel.

problem is scare tactics and videos dont work with the younger generation as a lot of them havent grown up to have the same sense of danger as us older folk. Means they simply watch it then discard it as it "wont happen to me".
Im surprised more people arent killed on our roads. Guess improving vehicle safety has helped save a lot of people who would have died 20 years ago.

Yeah this is true, when I was a teenager I had absoloutely zero fear behind the wheel and then when I started seeing what could actually happen and started developing a concience as I got older I calmed down a hell of a lot. Riding motorbikes certainly puts things into perspective when you've witnessed a few horrors too. :-(
People knock the police , but they must see some dreadfull things .
I was nearly killed by a drink driver in 1998 . I was one lucky guy that night
People who drink and drive
People who smoke weed etc and drive should be banned for life ,simply because your selfish cunts

Id stopped with my hazards on like everyone else ,as to the left in the photos is a field and a horse had got out and was running over the dual carriageway . The total piece of shit driving the sierra was 3.5 times over the limit and had taken pills also . She was taking her dog to southend seafront for a walk ....it was nearly midnight !!!!!!! and a 45 mile round trip for her .We only had the XR2 4 days . The next few months were tough ones , barely walking etc
So yeah if you do any of the above YOUR A CUNT .

Yes drink driving where the person is unfit to drive is a bad thing. But there are literally tens of thousands of drivers daily who are sober yet still unfit to drive.
These people kill too, they cause accidents, yet there are no massive campaigns to target them ?
People who dont use their fucking eyes are the biggest cause of all accidents...yet have you ever heard of cops either performing or insisting on eye tests ? No, but they'd check for road tax or an MOT which are both complete bollox.
Do they ever send blind fucktards to get re-trained with their driving ? People who cause accidents..do they get educated on how not to crash ?
Nope.
They dont give a fuck if the driver behind the wheel cant see 2ft in front of them...but it's the crime of the century if they to 35mph in a 30 when the road is completely empty and perfectly safe.
There is no doubt many aspects of policing isnt fun at all, but when many "road safety" and I use the term loosely...but when many such campaigns are about bullshit causes of accidents yet they ignore real causes, it's just hard to take them seriously.
I've only been in about 4 accidents where people have hit my car. All drivers were sober....but clearly fucking blind. Not one got prosecuted.
The last one despite the driver effectively running a red light ( largely as he also rammed me through the red light )...call the police...response " Oh, that's nothing to do with us".
Based on personal experience, the police as a whole do not give a fuck about the real world causes of accidents or dangers on the roads. That isnt to say some cops dont have a genuine interest in improving road safety, but clearly those in power do not.

Eye tests , get real. world apart from how drink and drugs affects you . Yes people crash for not paying attention but that's often spending to long behind the wheel or working long hours and so on .
Im sure the police (as above do give a shit) but how many times do they have to say , don't speed, don't drink and drive etc etc
Feel for the guy having to go tell the young girls mum she aint coming home , and to see the car and bodys ? I don't think I could cope with that
If you think it's only people who drive for long periods who crash, you're deluded.
It's fucking assholes who dont look and pull out of junctions, people who dont look when changing lanes, people who dont look and drive through red lights. Cyclists who dont look or just dont give a shit, pedestrians who also dont look...etc.
People who are just plain fucking blind often through either stupidity or choice and should not be anywhere near public road.
None of the above has to do with driving for long periods or anything remotely like it. It's just blind assholes who either cannot see, or just choose not to see. Either way there is no place for people like that on the roads.
The police have roadside operations everywhere checking for speed, doing checks for MOT or vehicle defects...when do they ever have checks for defective drivers, which IS the biggest cause of accidents ?
They dont. Why is that ?
Really, until they are making a real effort targeting real areas that need improving AND then offering or enforcing education or re-training for those who have caused accidents etc, it's just impossible for any sane person to take them seriously.
And as for drink or drugs. Irrelevant. Unfit to drive is unfit to drive. Whatever causes someone to be unfit doesnt matter a damn. If you're unfit you shouldnt be driving, and there are many many unfit sober drivers...often proven when people do cause accidents.
At the minute the police couldnt even have a clue who causes, or how many accidents are caused on a daily basis. If you phone them about an accident most of the time they just say it's fuck all to do with them.
If they feel someone who has caused an accident is perfectly safe and doesnt need speaking to....again, no sane person can take anything they ever say about road safety seriously.
When they start targeting those who have caused harm and damage, start educating them...and not people who havent caused harm or damage..then and only then might we see some genuine improvements in road safety.
As it is, certainly over here, all I can see them operating is a road death policy, almost actively encouraging people to die through their lack of positive action.

I do think people not paying attention are just as dangerous at times as drunk drivers. However drunk drivers are ALWAYS dangerous, drivers who dont pay attention are only dangerous when they arent paying attention which clearly isnt thier whole journey as otherwise they'd never make it off thier home street.
But you are right that more needs to be done to combat lazy, selfish, inconsiderate and distracted drivers.
Certainly I think it should be the case you rear end someone, pull out on them, dont indicate on a roundabout and then turn right from the left lane etc, then if police are involved its an automatic penalty unless you have mitigating circumstances to show you arent to blame.
Plenty of retard mongaloid cunt drivers could be dealt with that way.
However there is little that can be done to stop them before they crash as people tend to drive like a granny as soon as they see a cop car so they usually arent dumb enough to misbehave in front of the police.
I do think the public should be able to submit footage from dash cams to be used for prosecution of such drivers however practically it may be too expensive to administer.
It would be good if someone could write decent software that could use the existing CCTV feeds to highlight tailgating or cars in lane 2 or 3 with nothing for ages (eg mlms, lane hogs etc), then that footage could be sent to the camera partnership for review and issue of tickets if the footage shows inconsiderate driving. Again i suspect it would be expensive to implement though.

I had an accident in my focus rs last year where I was forced off the road. I had been following a que of traffic (a caravan, 106, Nissan Navara and a Laguna) for around 5 miles doing 35mph in a 60 limit. We was on a very long straight road with hills about every 1/2 mile. I waited patiently thinking someone would overtake the caravan but no one showed any sign of wanting too so as we got to the brow of the next hill I indicated and overtook the Laguna then as I pulled along side the Navara he just moved over and forced me off the road! No indication, no looking in his mirrors and forced me up the back on the right hand side of the road where I then hit a drainage cut out damaging my wheel, tyre and suspension. The arse hole then refused to stop and I ended up chasing him for another 3-4miles before I got in front of him and made him stop. I asked what the fuck he thought he was doing and that he should look in his mirrors and indicate before performing an overtaking manoeuvre. His reply was "it's your fault as you're in too much of a hurry". He refused to give me his insurance details and tried to drive off until I reached in and pulled his keys out of the ignition. He eventually accepted responsibility and gave me is details. I phoned my insurance company and they told me to report him to the police. I went straight down the police station and told them what had happened and the officer couldn't give a shit! I said if I hadn't taken action by swerving away from him and mounting the bank he would of hit me and caused a very serious accident. The officer said no one was injured so they wouldn't be getting involved. I then said if it had been the other way round and I would of caused the accident I bet they would be getting involved and they be straight round my house to arrest me for dangerous driving. At this point he shut the hatch in the police station and walked off never to be heard from again!
So yes stevieturbo I agree with you completely!

Thing is you cant easily outlaw stupid people.
The only solution is compulsory euthanasia of people who, following an assessment, are diagnosed as stupid.
or perhaps a slightly less "nazi" final solution and castrate/steralise them all so that stupid doesnt make it to the next generation.

Define what makes a drunk driver ?
There is no doubt there are thousands of drivers out there who would be more competent at the legal limit of alcohol than completely stone cold sober drivers...if not hundreds of thousands
"Drunk" to me, is someone incapable of driving, or as they would call it...unfit. But this same term has to apply to sober drivers too.
But if they wish to stick with drink, and terms like drunk, if they were in any way serious about it they would recognise there needs to be a tiered system of punishment.
But nope, that would be too sensible.
Instead in some places they want to reduce limits further. Seriously...WTF ? How many people in that lower bracket they now want actually cause accidents compared to the hundreds of thousands of sober drivers who crash every fucking day.
They are always dreaming up bullshit propaganda to target a minority problem, but completely ignoring the biggest problems, causing the most injury and harm..
It's no wonder in the past few years locally road deaths have been increasing year on year.
And that's not even getting into some of the TV adverts they've wasted thousands on. The best comedy writers would almopst be proud of them if they werent so embarrassingly bad !

They'll send harmless people on stupid "speed awareness" courses which almost every person agrees are a complete and utter waste of time. People on these courses are almost all people who have not crashed. They have dont damaged anything, they havent caused anyone any harm or maybe not even inconvenienced anyone.
They are people who are barely over the limit at all.
They claim this is to teach them a lesson of some sort, to improve road safety....even though the same people havent crashed or caused anyone any harm.
So where are the education or training courses for those who have proven themselves dangerous, unfit, incompetent, blind or just plain fucking stupid who have caused an accident, who have injured someone, who have destroyed property ?
Oh...there arent any. Go figure.
I've been on two of the speed awareness courses and all they drum into you is speed kills. now where this may be true they mislead u with the stats they give u on the course, according to a guy who "googled it" before he started our course, accident and deaths caused by speed was some tiny amount and when he voiced this at question time it caused a right old hoo hah and was borderline emabarrsing to watch as they seem to have realised they'd been rumbled. I know speeding is dangerous and the majority of us on the course we're a few mph over a 30 or 40 limit, fair enough its against the law but some of the stunts people get caught doing on the road where's there courses when they get convicted?
I'll be the first to say I dislike cyclists on the roads...but here is another good one that popped up on FB

Clearly the driver of the Landrover has issues, both mental and driving ability. Given what went on our wonderful legal system give him a fine.
Clearly they think he's a safe normal driver behind the wheel, perfectly fit to drive, who doesnt need some sort of education or training.
Now if he'd been clocked doing 33mph in that 30 zone as opposed to trying to run over a cyclist then threatening to kill him...then of course you'd expect him to be punished and educated.
Ya know...the 33mph would have been so much more dangerous.

we arent going to get any more funding for more coppers on the street and with the current death rates i cant see any major changes in the law either.

Don't talk shit , are you serious that someone on the limit is as capable as someone with 0% in there system !!! and you say I talk shit .
Its been said over and over , I bet many people on here and other forums smoke weed / drink and drive .
There's a massive difference between not paying attention and being pissed or high not knowing exactly how fast your going or who is around you .
The woman who hit me didn't even see me she was that pissed but im sitting with 20/30 other cars with hazard lights going .

And clearly that is road rage , a totally different topic to a police officer in a video explaining how a DUI killed a young girl
Not some idiot whos driving in London in a large 4x4 who is clearly under pressure in life .
Best video I've seen in ages. I suppose sometimes it's good just to let it all out lol. Reckon they both gave as good as they got. I have been guilty of similar outbursts in the past (not towards cyclists but other drivers) and regretted it after. Still funny to watch though

If you think all these sober drivers are perfectly coherent and competent to drive....how the hell do so many of them crash ?
And as said to Warren. Lets hear your definition of "drunk", which is a very generic term.
There is no question there are far more unfit or incompetent sober drivers out there on the roads every day, than there are those at the legal limit, almost all of which will still be quite capable.
Your accident may have been caused by some well over the limit, which is a completely different scenario, and the very reason the current system is complete bullshit, where a driver at the limit is treated exactly the same as someone who cant see, who cant stand and has probably pissed themselves they are that blind drunk.
What a completely and utterly fucked up system it is.
@Warren, no there is no need to gas people...but you could bum them lol.
A key part of the solution is simple. Instead of poxy bullshit speed awareness courses, there should be education and training courses for blind incompetent fucktards who cause accidents, harm or damage whilst they attempt to drive on the roads. This also applies to all road users, eg cyclists and pedestrians too.
If you cause an accident, clearly you need educated so you dont do it again.
Right ,but your reason and answers is totally impossible .
Accidents are accidents simple , driving while drinking or on drugs is not a accident . that's done by a selfish wanker that clearly isn't thinking straight .
My definition of drunk ? It should be 0 tolerance . I couldn't give a monkeys if bob can drink 10 and still walk straight or drink 15 and FEEL FINE .
Yes its a subject that winds me up for obvious reasons ,if you haven't been on the tale end of it then you wouldn't understand .
The aftermarth of that selfish cunts actions is the part that's very hard to deal with, not the bang .
This again is totally different , your bringing in 100s of examples and missing why this thread was started .
There are levels and tests you have to pass to drive on the roads . Apart of the test isn't to see how much you can drink or smoke before your unfit to drive , but guess you think that should be brought into it ? People are human and make mistakes and with millions of cars on the roads there will always be accidents
Next your tell me you smoke weed and it done affect you atall

Not a personal pop at you but again , your going way off the subject

You still dont get the concept of being unfit to drive. Which is surprising really.
And no, I have never been the victim of a drink driver.
But I have been crashed into by 4 sober drivers over the years.
That's gotta make you wonder ?
No, apparently there are no accidents any more, this is why they now call them collisions. And with an attitude of tolerance to incompetence that is causing the crashes...is it any wonder road deaths are increasing, and people are killing each other on the roads.
Yes people are involved, but when there are no proper education and training schemes for those who have proven themselves incompetent to drive, how will they ever change their ways ?

Yes people are involved, but when there are no proper education and training schemes for those who have proven themselves incompetent to drive, how will they ever change their ways ?
I get the concept and the point your making .
More cars = more accidents
I drive for around 7-9 hours every day and to be fair don't see that many .
I hope your never a victim , you will view things very different .
But back to the subject , I feel for that police man. that's had a impact on him and like glenn has pointed out. there not paid anywhere near enough.
Its not like he can go home and say he's had a good day is it ,he has to go home with them visions in his head .

And likewise, I'm on the road daily and do silly miles, and yes I have been a victim of unfit drivers, albeit sober ones
And of course it is terrible for the police dealing with the aftermath of ALL accidents, of which the majority will be caused by sober drivers..and I keep reiterating that to put things into context about the numbers of accidents
But empathy, sympathy etc do nothing to help prevent incompetent people from causing crashes. And that's the bottom line.

I can totally see where you're coming from Stevie regarding the amount of incompetent drivers causing accidents but if you also have the same incompetent drivers drinking then they become even more of a problem hence you have to have a set pass or fail level for what qualifies as being "over the limit", I also agree that some drivers who may be just over the limit are probably still capable of driving better than some sober drivers but there is no doubt that they would drive even better if their system was totally clear of alcohol.
Also, there are laws against useless drivers namely reckless driving and driving without due care etc but the police need to make a point of enforcing these laws so yes, I agree with what you say about incompetence. In a nutshell, if all driving laws were enforced appropriately it would make us all drive better and more considerately purely to avoid picking up points or causing accidents by negligence.

Yes, but there are already huge campaigns to target drink drivers.
And again I'm not talking about enforcement of incompetent drivers by punishing them, or fining them.
None of those things teach them the error of their ways and how they should be driving in order to prevent crashing. Most of which just requires them to use their bloody eyes.
It would be like sending people to school....then not bothering to teach them and hope they figure stuff out.
Education doesnt work like that. If people show themselves to be stupid and crash...either remove them from the roads permanently, or educate and test them so they can prove they are safe to be on the roads.
It really isnt rocket science.

Well it won't be long until the driverless car is here and hopefully that will cut down on a lot of poor driving. The majority of drivers out there look at driving as a chore and have no interest in it, so hopefully all the divs who can't drive to a high standard will go out and buy a driverless car which will be programed to adhear to the laws of the road and hopefully make driving more enjoyable for the likes of us petrol heads.
It will be a very long time before a driverless car is a reality on all public roads.
And the roads it may happen first, will be the safest roads anyway so almost making it pointless from a road safety perspective.
And adhering to laws dont make the roads a safe place....as laws that make people use their fucking eyes are never enforced, if any actually exist.

Same as humans, until they go wrong . I know for sure I wouldn't be sitting in a car that drives itself .
Worst idea ever , we are just going to end up like bloody robots

Amazing how attitudes have changed over the years, remember every trip we ever took as a kid in the car my dad would stop us off at the pub and he'd have a couple of pints while we played in the beer garden, 5 up in a cortina and my mum would have my baby brother sat on her knee in the front seat not wearing a seat belt.
I'm so glad I grew up in those years, carefree but of course less traffic and less traffic law.
Moving on a few years serving in Germany, Ireland, Bosnia etc pretty much every time we drove anything we had had a full night on the beer, got in at 5 am and driving by 6, this was probably 80% of the unit, everyday.
Worst case you'd be so tired and hungover you'd have to hang your head out of the window to see the White line on the road.
Even getting stopped nothing was done, it was how it was and if we could get away with it we did.
We were young soldiers and pretty much didn't care, i wouldn't change those days for the world but those days are now gone.
Luckily now people are more educated in the reality of these actions so it doesn't happen.
Times and attitudes change along with traffic and a higher death rate on our roads.
I don't care for those scare videos, drink/drug driving, speeding along with careless driving etc are all easy targets and we've all seen what can happen, a good friend of mines entire family was killed by a drunk driver heading the wrong way down a duel carridgeway.
Maybe if other people were looked at on our roads we could save more lives, arsehole cyclists for one, thinking they own the road riding two maybe 3 a breast down a busy A road or cutting through traffic, I have no sympathy for you, but also cycle paths throughout our road network should be introduced but I'm sure some would still choose the road and very costly.
Old people, we'll all be old one day, maybe a periodic driving test could help, I watched an old man drive his 3 wheeler onto the A1 in yorkshire not long back, instead of speeding up on the slip road he stopped and made a right turn into on coming traffic, if it wasn't for 2 very switched on lorry drivers he'd be gone.
Theres plenty more but still our cars are our freedom and it probably won't be too long until we are more restricted on the roads so we should enjoy it while we can.
