Amazing how attitudes have changed over the years, remember every trip we ever took as a kid in the car my dad would stop us off at the pub and he'd have a couple of pints while we played in the beer garden, 5 up in a cortina and my mum would have my baby brother sat on her knee in the front seat not wearing a seat belt.
I'm so glad I grew up in those years, carefree but of course less traffic and less traffic law.
Moving on a few years serving in Germany, Ireland, Bosnia etc pretty much every time we drove anything we had had a full night on the beer, got in at 5 am and driving by 6, this was probably 80% of the unit, everyday.
Worst case you'd be so tired and hungover you'd have to hang your head out of the window to see the White line on the road.
Even getting stopped nothing was done, it was how it was and if we could get away with it we did.
We were young soldiers and pretty much didn't care, i wouldn't change those days for the world but those days are now gone.
Luckily now people are more educated in the reality of these actions so it doesn't happen.

Times and attitudes change along with traffic and a higher death rate on our roads.
I don't care for those scare videos, drink/drug driving, speeding along with careless driving etc are all easy targets and we've all seen what can happen, a good friend of mines entire family was killed by a drunk driver heading the wrong way down a duel carridgeway.

Maybe if other people were looked at on our roads we could save more lives, arsehole cyclists for one, thinking they own the road riding two maybe 3 a breast down a busy A road or cutting through traffic, I have no sympathy for you, but also cycle paths throughout our road network should be introduced but I'm sure some would still choose the road and very costly.
Old people, we'll all be old one day, maybe a periodic driving test could help, I watched an old man drive his 3 wheeler onto the A1 in yorkshire not long back, instead of speeding up on the slip road he stopped and made a right turn into on coming traffic, if it wasn't for 2 very switched on lorry drivers he'd be gone.
Theres plenty more but still our cars are our freedom and it probably won't be too long until we are more restricted on the roads so we should enjoy it while we can.
