Question what is the best brake bleeding kit you can buy for reasonable money?

im not a fan of using the car tyre system.

I hear there is a system where you put the clear pipe on the end of the bleed nipple and pump it into a bottle, so it sucks on the nipple like someone using a straw to drink a drink etc..... obviously keeping an eye on the reservoir so it doesn't empty. has anyone got any links to them? or a link for a good one that you have used? don't want to spend loads, just a decent kit out there that you guys recommend?

I've got and use one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VS820-BRAN...item3a8142a501

or

http://www.tooled-up.com/product/sea...FeXItAod230AGg

works really well!

Plenty of pressure or vacuum based setups available for around Ł40-50

In some respects the pressure is better, and others vacuum. The only real negative to pressure kits is the lids dont always seal that well.

that's the problem buddy, used one of them sealey kits with a tyre at about 15psi, sealed nicely on the brake reservoir then halfway through bleeding it started pissing brake fluid out of the reservoir!

Lots of options here. I would be inclined to go for a vacuum bleeder. But also keep a large syringe handy for simple manual vacuum or back bleeding

Vacuum is the way forward in my opinion. Especially as on some cars the reservoir is rather difficult to access. There is a multi purpose system around which can also be used to bleed diesel lines etc. And it's even got a special refill bottle which keeps the reservoir neatly topped up if you use it alone. It's from a german company called 'Büsching'.

Best method I've ever used.
The other one that's ok is a length of pipe, blocked with a slit cut into it into a jam jar full of brake fluid, costs about Ł3 from any decent brake hose seller.

Foot bleeding always works 100% for me,often from systems that have lost a lot of fluid due to standing etc.

Also there's some dispute as regards whether to do the fronts or backs first,I've always done fronts first then backs but been told this was incorrect.

When we tried the other way round in the garage on advice it just didnt work and we ended up going front to back, worked spot on.

Each to their own I suppose.

Run the master dry on a lot of cars, then you could have 20 people helping and it wouldnt make a difference ( unless you can hook them all up to a pipe and make them suck or blow )

Likewise cars with ABS can sometimes be awkward. Either a pressure or vacuum bleeder is the only way.
Plus it is one man operated and far far easier.

Lads,

Bought one of the vac bleeder but it not working...

http://www.tooled-up.com/product/sea...um-type/28811/

When opening nipple with bleeder connected its just pulling air and a little liquid vapor by the looks of it, if someone pushes the brake pedal I get full liquid flow as expected .this defeats the idea of one man operation tho...
Tried two cars and all the same, can return to uk supplier but pain in the arse so any one have this issue, am I doing something wrong...

I use a similar vaccum unit and find it very good, sometimes it helps to remove the bleed nipple and coat the thread in grease to make it air tight rather than the unit pulling fresh air past the thread,

Avoid pump bleeding via the pedal, it can turn the seals in the master, if it has to be done just use short strokes

Grease because it's sensible to keep bleed nipples greased with suitable grease so they dont seize.
As they can do.

Washer tube and a glass bottle.

1) Take the washer tube that's on your car if you have no spare.
2) Buy some Fosters Gold™ if you don't have a glass bottle. Drink the contents first.
3) Place some brake fluid in the bottle.

4) Open the bleed nipple and watch the air come through the tube, gravity fed.

Always do rear first, furthest to travel from the mc.

5) Drink the remaining bottles from the 6 pack.
