I use a similar vaccum unit and find it very good, sometimes it helps to remove the bleed nipple and coat the thread in grease to make it air tight rather than the unit pulling fresh air past the thread,

Avoid pump bleeding via the pedal, it can turn the seals in the master, if it has to be done just use short strokes
