FORD ESCORT RS2000, 1979 COUPE IN AUSTRALIAN 'LEMON & LIME' COLOUR - 75000 MILES EQUIVALENT.

I HAD THIS CAR LISTED PREVIOUSLY BUT IT WAS IN TRANSIT FROM AUSTRALIA AND THE DEAL FELL THROUGH, THE CAR IS NOW IN THE
UK (BLACKPOOL) AND IS AVAILABLE TO BE VIEWED MOST EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS. I HAVE PUT THE CAR THROUGH AN MOT TEST TO SEE WHAT IT WOULD NEED TO BRING IT UP TO UK STANDARDS AND AS SUSPECTED IT'S SIMPLE THINGS THAT ARE A RESULT OF BEING STOOD FOR A WHILE - I WILL LIST THEM BELOW.

I AM SELLING THE CAR UNREGISTERED, SO THAT THE NEW OWNER CAN BE THE FIRST REGISTERED KEEPER ON THE LOGBOOK, I HAVE ALL THE RELEVANT PAPERWORK TO BE COMPLETED FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, IF THIS UNSUITABLE I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO REGISTER THE CAR UPON RECEIPT OF A DEPOSIT FROM THE WINNING BIDDER (BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE TO MOT, TAX AND INSURE THE CAR BEFORE IT CAN BE REGISTERED AND THESE COSTS WILL HAVE TO BE PASSED ALONG TO YOU), THIS ALSO MEANS THAT YOU WILL BECOME THE SECOND REGISTERED KEEPER INSTEAD OF THE FIRST. ALL OF THE CUSTOMS DUTY ETC HAS BEEN PAID ON THE CAR WHEN IT LANDED BEFORE IT WAS ALLOWED TO BE RELEASED TO ME SO THERES NO WORRIES ABOUT THAT - ITS ALL BEEN TAKEN CARE OF.

PURCHASED FROM IT'S PREVIOUS KEEPER WHO HAD STORED IT FOR OVER A DECADE

THE SHELL IS 100% ORIGINAL FORD METAL AND STRAIGHT, SOME SMALL DAMAGED AREAS (SEE PICTURES)

PAINTWORK IS PRETTY POOR AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED - LOOKS GREAT FROM 10 FEET AWAY

MING RUST PROOFED FROM NEW SO NO NASTY RUST ISSUES TO DEAL WITH.

(VERY TINY BITS OF SURFACE RUST & A SMALLER THAN THUMB SIZED HOLE IN THE LEFT WHEEL WELL - SEE PIC)

STARTS, DRIVES, STOPS, EVERYTHING WORKS, COMES WITH BRAND NEW MINILITES WITH BRAND NEW 185/60/13 TYRES, REAR WINDOW LOUVRE, DEALER STICKER STILL IN PLACE!

PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURES ESPECIALLY OF THE HEATER BUBBLE AREA WITH NO RUST, THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WHICH IS TOTALLY ORIGINAL AND NEVER BEEN WELDED

SILLS & DOOR BOTTOMS ARE MINT, STILL HAVE THE PLASTIC BUNGS IN PLACE WHERE THE RUST PROOFING WAS INSTALLED.

NO SPEAKER HOLES ANYWHERE!

THE RARER FRONT SCHEEL SEATS HAVE SUN DAMAGE BUT FOAMS ARE GOOD, WILL NEED RECOVERING, REAR SEAT IS MINT.

PASSENGER DOOR TRIM IS MINT, DRIVERS DOES REQUIRE SOME REPAIR. CARPETS ETC ARE ALL GOOD.ALL LIGHTS ARE AS NEW.

HAS DOUBLE SIDED SUNROOF FITTED.

NOSE CONE FITS WELL WITH NO SAGGING.

RECENTLY HAD THE CARB REMOVED, STRIPPED, BLASTED & RE-BUILT BY MOTO-CARB ON THE GOLD COAST

ALL IT NEEDS IS SOMEONE TO SPEND THE TIME TAKING HER APART AND HAVING THE DINGS ETC REPAIRED AND A BEAUTIFUL NEW COAT OF PAINT FOLLOWED BY A LIGHT RESTORATION OF THE INTERIOR.

THESE CARS ARE BRITISH IN ORIGIN AND WERE SENT TO AUSTRALIA IN KIT FORM FOR ASSEMBLY IN HOMEBUSH IN SYDNEY, THEY WERE ALSO BUILT IN 4 DOOR FORM. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN LITTLE QUIRKS - FOR EXAMPLE THEY WERE NEVER RELEASED WITH THE FISHNET RECARO SEATS, ONLY THE SCHEEL SEATS AS THESE WERE ALSO USED IN HOLDENS SPORTIER CARS, THEY CAME WITH THEIR OWN FORM OF ALLOY WHEELS WHICH WERE SIMPLY AWFUL (HENCE THE MINILITES ON THIS EXAMPLE), AND ALSO THE FUEL FILLER IS BEHIND THE REAR NUMBER PLATE.

I think you will sell it easily but surely it is worth fixing all the little MOT problems or have they been done?

Well I figured that with the car needing to be painted, the new owner would probably remove the interior to be recovered and prepare the car for paint, then whilst putting the car back together might opt for a few upgrades like braided brake hoses etc instead of the standard ones. The point of me putting it through the MOT test really was to highlight that the car really isn't in need of an endless amount of work to make it roadworthy once the shiny bits have been taken care of - it's just a genuinely great car which needs to be given it's shine back! Thanks for your point though

Surprisingly it wasn't a 'bargain' - theres a little profit left in it but not much, the thing is that Aussies don't really appreciate these cars as much as they should and after seeing this one and realising how genuine it is, I figured it's real home should be here in the UK where it will be really treasured by an enthusiast. Over there it would just end up with a turbo'd V8 in it and used as a burnout car - sacrilege!
