Another failed gated sump causing engine meltdown
#441
Without all the facts its just speculation Phil as I am sure you well know.
I suggest 14 degrees at 4k with 2 bar on that engine is probably a bit optimistic.
This is all top of my head but those points alone prove its pointless to even waste my time trying to help.
I suggest 14 degrees at 4k with 2 bar on that engine is probably a bit optimistic.
- Danny says it didnt have 2 bar.
- Steve says it did.
- Tony asked how it made 500+bhp on 1.4 bar... a valid question
- Danny says the car ran a long way with no fuel pressure multiplication
- Steve says it didnt do that at all.
- The list goes on...
This is all top of my head but those points alone prove its pointless to even waste my time trying to help.
The actual boost and afr will be printed today at some point and iv already given boost pressures versus rpm..
It didnt make 500 at 1.4 bar at 5.3k as it would be a very special engine!it did 491 at near 7k at just a tad under 2 bar!!
The car was run on a rr day and then the vacuum pipe was left off steve himself posted an angry post about this himself!!
Luke read injector duty cycle whilst mapping so can answer anything you need to know on that..
For anyone saying we could send stu the wrong chip file then its impossible as tony also has one to compare...
There is nothing to hide and everything is recorded and does anyone really think id go to all this trouble just to be proven wrong??
I can see every change made in the power, afr and boost graph and have the oe file on laptop so can see that there is nothing wrong..
Once boost was being made there were over 20 pulls on the dd rr between 440 and 491 hp all recorded to show, the pressures iv given are the highest ones recorded!!
cheers danny

After reading the thread it's all starting to sound like an eastenders plot to me
I've met loads of the posters here in real life and I can't say I've had a cross word to say to any of them
And to those who I've only cyber'd, well, they are still looking forward to me gracing their presence, do look for me at ford fair, I'll be the one with the hat on

Took the sump off yesterday flannigan, the gates are still in mint condition mate,as I suspected , spoke to Ian who made them , say your gated sump was made for John priest in 2006 , never used left in his loft then sold to you in 2010 , so it's 12 years old , so maybe corodion may have played a part? I rang about and every one who has fitted one of these has never had a problem at all ? He is adamant there is no design fault , one gate dropping off unlucky but three , with our the welds breaking ,So iam happy to continue useing these gated sumps , after speaking to him , hope you get it sorted

Thats the thing its horrible when some one speculates something and then some one gets the blame because of that speculation..
I dont want to see all you guys in the future with all of you thinking me or luke had done any one any wrong..
Thats just me and hence why i said if it was proven luke did wrong id buy the pistons for steve!!..
I know for a fcat after seeing everything today and speaking with luke that that map is good..
Dougy mate it will all get sorted and i hope everyone will be cool again..

Met you both just the once at ep but a few times and the shows, both sound blokes, other than that, I can't comment
Keep you chin up Luke, there's always someone out there who will be looking out for you in your hour of need

Well that's peace of mind for you mate glad all was ok ! Don't really know why mine has failed I have offered to post it to Ian for inspection ? I can't see any corrosion on it where it failed just looks to me like the pins were brittle and broke away due to vibration either way i guess I'm just unlucky the decision I have got now is do i rebuild my t04e or upgrade it to a jge60 turbonetics / garret hybrid ? Lol
Gtx3076.82 boost by 2.6k and 14 psi by 3.5 k 500 lb ft by 4.8 k and 600 hp near as damn it!! awesome turbo!!
I used the first one ever last week on bench dyno..
That was with 26mm ported head 25mm ex ,my inlet cam hart plenum and 83lbers..

Yep thats the way mate!!! good to see someone listening!!lol
depending on engine spec you might need to change cams to suit too as these turbos work different to t4s..
T4 turbos get stronger and stronger on boost and prefer a high revving engine where as the quicker spooling turbos like to peak asap then drop of a bit sooner so a long duration and high lift inlet cam and a short duration smaller lift(even std is great)exhaust cam works awesome..
Also around the 8.0.1-8.3.1 cr ratio is really good with these type turbos and cam set ups..
Makes for a real drivable torquey engine...

I did. I work on an ROV support ship now. Same job, no sir shite, no guns, less machinery and nearly double the money
Oh, and instead of 5 or 6 months away at sea, I now do 4 weeks. Then have 4 weeks off. So in reality, I work half the year.
And I don't have to pay tax.
Oh, or national insurance.
I think I've done no bad tbh
