Default cossy ecu problem

right looking for a little bit of info here if anybody can help
i think i know whats wrong with it but i would like some other opinions

basicaly heres the story

i was doing a bit of work on my cossy today, its a 2wd with l6 running 803's t34, low comp, big cooler, -34, 3 bar etc
i have bought a closed loop chip for l8, a l8, lambda probe, seimens 55's
i 1st changed my tps to a pf09
i swap'd the 2 outside wires on the loom
swap'd the injectors,
i drilled a hole in front pipe and welded in the boss,
fitted lambda probe
connected wires as insructed( black to pin2 of ecu, white to 12v, other white to earth)
i fitted the chip to the l8 ecu as instucted, inc modding the board for clearance etc
fitted the l8 ecu,
now when i tried to start the car it wouldn't fire,
just kept turning over,
with ign on no.2c injector kept clicking like mad
tried the noid tester in it and its lit all the time
the other injectors dont pulse at all
had a bit of a mess around thinking i had missed something but with no luck
eventualy fitted the l6 ecu back in again, and old injectors,
car started 1st turn, swapped the stuff over again and again no joy,
so i've put it all back to how it was and its running fine again
now i'm thinking its the l8 ecu thats goosed as it hasn't been used for around a year, i did have it running in a car then with no probs but its been in my tool box since
the chip and lambda sensor is from msd, i bought it 2nd hand from here but the guy says it was working perfect,
injectors were from carlo and have only done less than 100 miles and are like new
i would just like any info regarding this in case anybody has come across this before so can point me in the right direction, or if i done something wrong withthe fitting, as its driving me mad, wasted a day doing it
or is it a common fault with the l8?

sorry for the long story but you need the full picture obviously
thanks jamie

defo the right way round
notch at the same side
had static straps on it and everything
my mate that was with me makes circuit boards for a living so he realy knows his stuff with this kinda thing
so if somethings pumped it was like that when fitted
its just that i know the ecu was fine when i used it last year
but it has sat since then
the only bit i dont know about was the chip as it wasd 2nd hand
normaly i would say it was that but the guy assures me it was fine so dont want to start accusing him of selling faulty parts etc
just a bit pissed off as i dont have any money left to but any more bits now

you do have the encryption key fitted?

i have a chip from stu for t34.48, low comp, slight ported head, 500 cooler std cams, closed loop ,L8 , to run 55s at 36psi if you need one.

it has no key though so you can use yours

thats what i wasn't wanting to hear
i did suspect that, but just keep hoping that wasn't the case
at least its still running on the l6,
already sold my l6 as well so realy need to get this sorted out asap
wasn't realy bothered about the closed loop as well,
was just so i could change to seimens
wish i'd not bothered now

under the chip there is a little board, which makes the chip really tall...

just fitting the chip will not work

the chip sits into the encryption key, then the key plugs into the board..

i assume even on pectel boards stu still uses his key..

thats another possibility, there are two types of baby board, std, or pectel, you need to make sure your chip is for the board you have

yeah its got the board under the chip
hade to trim down the baby board so it would fit as its to tall
it was s upposed to be from the exact same spec as my car, thats why i went to the hassle of getting the closed loop, as its only a toy so dont care sbout economy

did you try with out the lamba probe connected in case its sending a dodgy signal?

are you sure the chips the right way with the notch to the left with the ecu scart facing you also i cant remember if the chip will fit in the other chip holder on the babyboard just in front of the holder you want it fitted to? also is the chip written for a pectel board?

does the pfo9 work?

lambda probe shouldn't matter as it doesn't take a reading from this until its warm
tps defo works fine, came from another car,
not sure if its a std board or pectel, i didn't realise they were differant
chip was fitted the same way as the old 1
i think my board is standard, i'll pm the guy i got it from to ask him if he knows

JTECH has nailed this one i think. Sounds like its fitted into wrong board
OR
Its been plugged in backwards and powered by someone, at sometime.
OR
Your babyboard plug is fitted wrong end of the 28 pin mobo socket.

I know Monday is an age away with a car problem, but on monday i can tell you from serial number what board its calibrated for.

mine looks slightly differant from that but i'm 99% sure it dont say pectel on it anywhere
i've pm'd the guy askin if he had a std or pectel board
was the pectel board fitted as standard to ant ecu's or was ir aftermarket
as he certainly didn't mention it was pectel

pectel is fitted aftermarket mate, take stus advice, ring him monday and find out what your chip is for

your board type is critical, so you have to determine what you have

i was actualy thinking of changing down to a .48(got a .63)
to make it pick up bit better, that the same spec you were running?
did you ever get a power run with that spec?
was it torque'y?
