re: poor distances on the sportstracker, you'll notice that it doesnt follow the track exactly due to poor signal on the phone's GPS (would have been better with my bluetooth GPS but couldnt be arsed to set it up) hence why it reads the wrong distances. time is accurate on that one as it was manually pressed start/lap some of them aint accurate as they were set to auto-lap on the gantry, and with poor signal it didn't always do it exactly

look at mine from a bike trackday at snetterton, it's rubbish (but then it was in the inside pocket of my leathers). would be much better with an external bluetooth gps

agreed. you can see it's not very accurate from the altitude trace - the nordschleife has a difference of about 300m from highest to lowest point but only shows as about 100m on your data. but the time will be near enough even if the speed isn't, so that is a very quick time that you should rightly be proud of

ah yes FUEl, forgot about that, we used 3 full tanks in one day
unfortunately just before the engine let go, i filled her up again
maybe ity was shonky fuel and i can sue the petrol station?
oh, and the ADAC guy wrote on the damage report "minor enging fault" recon when it comes back and it has a MAJOR engine fault i can pretend it wasnt like that when they picked it up? cry:

What a lap fair play Jim, you done many miles round there, or did you pedal your car as quick as you dare/ragged?
That tracker is a top bit of kit, easily available to the masses too?
yeah off roading was MINT, i thought i was a good co driver,,, " yeah mate its not that steep", " we will make that no problems ! "

Mr. C
was all knowledge, and having a good car, its not hard to drive fast if you know where youre going and youve got a car that goes and stops well. was passing all sorts of sorted porsches, just down to the fact i knew i could hold it flat out round the blind corners

Jim thats why it blew so quick 400bhp out of a NA 3.0 is probably a good reason...but for me larropping round a race track flat out with no dry sump or big winged sump or not having a full sump of oil with an amatuer driver/owner would be more probable!...Maybe BSW has a Voodoo doll of you ROFL

this coming from the ex owner of this bmw who thought it was 400 bhp and never goes out in any of his cars let alone do a track day?
Some cars can get away with not having oil up to the max mark on the dipstick, maybe the M3 isnt one of them. Most of your posts are amusing, but not this one.
rich to be fair its easy to go round and round and not check the oil when the car dont use any
i checked mine after i heard about jims even though i checked it the day before i left, in the services and the morning i was due to go on the ring,,,,, never used a drop so never bothered to check till i heard about jim,,, mine was on the min by then and after another 5 laps the oil was down again,,, yet the drive home i aint used any oil and we was going at a fair rate,,,,, infact me and sib carried on doing the same rate on the A2 and ive used no oil so seems its just on track it used it ( how strange is that )
so i can see where hes comming from tbh

Its either paranoia or it just gives you (or the service crew) something to do in service half the time.
Fluid levels and tyre pressures follow the same routine too
Competition / track driving is nothing like road or even "fast road" driving so you can never predict whats going to happen.
Unfortunatly its too late for you to learn now Jim which im gutted about, but lets hope others learn from it.

7minutes? yeah right, RW doesn't even go that fast
i do think i could go faster with some proper driver training tho, i know that i'm not the best driver, and some proper instruction would go a massive long way. Diva, fancy giving me some pointers next time round matey? you get lots of free laps
about 1k miles before this happened, the car did have a big oil leak, and was driven flat out at high RPM with next to no oil in (obviously i didn't notice), this probably didn't help, and i'm confident has contributed in some way. i'm pretty sure if it had not been allowed to run low on oil (both when it had this leak, and on the ring when it let go) that it would happily have run round to 200 thousand miles
anyway, like you said, lesson learnt, and luckily it wont be too expensive to put right, imagine if i did that to an M3 CSL or something?
oh shit thats just reminded me of one of my last laps where i had a "moment" i was going round with Diva in the passenger seat, and we were going at a fair old pace. around about adenau we came up on a 911 turbo who i managed to pass easily on the long flat out sections (could tell the guy didnt kow the track). but in the sections between the karosell (sp?) and bruchen(sp?)/showboat his far more powerful car allowed him to catch back up and he was itching to get back past me. i very kindly allowed him to pass, even tho i know i'd have to pass him again shortly (aren't i kind) anyway, as we went through Pflanzgarten (long flat out/blind section at the end just after the small steep dip) i was riding his rear bumper, pedal to the metal, with my left indicator on to show that i wanted to pass, nout wrong with that, expected him to pull over as we were now on a straight where you can clearly see where the track goes. (we're doing about 100-110 here)
no, he piles on the anchors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think i small amount of poo came out...
with ABS going MENTAL i just about managed to swerve to his right and avoid hitting him at high speed (his brakes were so much better than mine i ended up level with his drivers window!) and if it wasnt for ABS i may have even spun the car here
such a lucky escape, just goes to show you have to be really careful for other people doing STUPID things even when you're driving is fine
anyway diva, did you get his plate, might get his address and send him a poo in a bag

Jim, nice one, never been but have a rough idea of what a good lap time is there
Er, weren't you being a little stupid riding his back bumper at 100-110 considering you weren't racing him
Presumably not wearing helmets, roll cage, etc... This sort of stuff is fine in touring car racing, but, on the ring with unknown people around you

it wasn't a good look
