Mike R Cosworth...no need to speak?
Gaballys M3 (my old motor) had done 112000 miles what do you expect thrashing round a race track?
Race cars have fresh engines..ROAD cars aint meant for that kinda driving...and to add NONE of you lot are racing drivers.

Another Update.
Just got home safe and sound. I gave Lee and Maria a 1 hour head start from the ring this morning while I sneaked a couple of laps in. Mate, I was tanking the Audi all the way home and never made any ground on them, so percy does go well with a boost leak!
Cant believe we left at 11.30 this morning and everyones cars were fine! Then I see this trail of destruction!
Was my first ring trip and it was totally awesome, but made even better by all the amazing friendly folk off here! The Audi done me proud and went well round the track. Jim came out with me on my last lap and the difference it made having someone who really knows the track was amazing. All those 100+mph blind corners and crests that I was braking on as I did not know the circuit well were so much better with Jim saying "Stay flat on the pedal, youll be fine!!!!" Loved it!
Few big ups.........
Michael - For sorting the Hotel! Top dude and will see you in Basel soon....oh and the headache after our little drinking session and putting the world to rights!!!
Lee and Maria - Top ring buddies and did we have some fun on that hotel road!!! Oh and the baby sitting. Lee you looked good wheeling a pram!!!
Uncle Diva - Baby sitting Daisy whilst me and Zoe played cars and just an all round top top top geeza
Uncle Richie - As above for babysitting
Jim - For making my last lap so much better (and telling me it was quite fast)
Ben and Richie - For putting up with my wifes crap jokes about Ben and Jerry
Ryan/James/Mike/Kelv - Just top geezas and so friendly!!!
Shorty/Sticky and the other guys in your group - just so friendly and entertaining Daisy for us!
Sure I forgot some people! Sorry!
Guys, I am gutted for you that have had problems today as it was all going so smooth when we left.
Got loadsa pics which I will post up in a while.
Oh, and gotta say as shes mine and so cute!!!...How cool was Daisy on her first ring trip!!! She loved it!!!!

ok, sat in a restaurant just finished a lovely steak and talkin the usual bollocks.
Big shame about the car, had the knock of death so pulled in and got recovered (total cost 280E) bit gutted but hey, shit happens, the engine had 130k on the clock and was given death. Was going really well before then.
Gonna get a lift to dover ith mike tomorrow (hire carsfor the win) and the car is gonna get delivered back at some point. Thank god for european breakdown cover eh!

Well the way i see it i like to have a couple of laps then get pissed as sooner or later any car will break summat when thrashing it on that track. I for one aint got no spare cash to chuck away if i broke a car or a barrier.
In reading this, what seemed to be a huge amount of fun, it's hit me the amount of dosh and margin for things to go wrong on something like this. This can prove hugely expensive and end up going tits up so not all fun and games.
Worth thinking about I think before planning to go...

I get this feeling every spring when I read about the ring trips. For the first few days you feel left out for not being able to join the bunch of fun people going there. Then after the weekend when you read about the broken cars
I get a bit put off. Im paranoid to breaking my car so I guess the best thing would be to go there to meet you all and have a great time but take it easy with the driving.
I hope everyone gets their prides sorted in the best way possible.

Sounds like a fun packed trip. I am going to head over when its only opening for 2 evenings or so, I have decided that less track "open" time but more actual quiet laps time is more important for a good session.

Thats how JJ and his mates tend to play it, they specifically pick a weekend that doesnt really look like its a good one, not much ring open time etc, and go then, and they end up with more laps than on a full weekend when its rammed with tourists, lol
