frog, if you know that section of track, you'll know you'd never have expected him to do that, i just got caught out by thining the guy had a brain. imagine being on a long straight on a trackday, you wouldnt expect the car you're indicating to pass would anchor on!
unfortunately passing at the ring often has to be done a lot quicker than on a regular track, as you have to carry your speed and not slow down. waiting behind someone and hoping to power past them on a straight just won't work unless you've got huge horsepower. (especially considering there aint many straight bits... lol) it's often done on the inside of a left hander when the slower car is keeping wide to let people past, you'd never get that on a trackday!
it's hard to understand unless youve driven it really, as it sounds well dodgy when people say it, you just think they're driving like a c*nt
it's why you have to keep an eye on whats going on behind you and make sure you allow people plenty of room to pass you.

greg, you're right it is stupid. but jim is also right, it is just what you do when you're there and 'in the heat of battle' (even though it is not a battle).
it is very hard to stop the adrenaline taking over and keep it totally sensible, but the more times you have been, the easier it becomes. you realise that it's ok to try and do a fast la when it's quiet, but if there's other traffic then you should all give each other plenty of room

nick, you're one to talk, i remember how fast you went round in my sierra
since you know that particular section of track, can you see what i mean about staying left and indicating? and also if i slowed behind the 911 i could not then overtake as i don't have the power to pull past
