Default Corsa XE conversion question? - Chip?

I know a few people have done this on here, but I ve got a mate who is currently fitting one but he's been told you need a quick shift gear linkage as it pops out of hear round corners if you dont?

I used to have a XE nova and have a mate who's built one himself but never heard of anything like it before on Corsas? Is this right?

Cheers

Yes what he has heard is correct, you have to chop a bit out of the linkage to change the gearing/position of the linkage if using an F28, thats what I did on my mates recently.

www.vauxsport.com is certainly the best place to get details, there is an awesome thread on there with everything you could ever want to know about XE'ing a corsa:

he is just using the f20 chip.

does it still apply?

he was told that if he goes to fast round a corner in 2nd or 4th it'll pop out of gear unless he get a quick shift

PS

Corsa linkage is the one of the left.

Its about 10mm ( IIRC but check on vauxsport ) that you take out of the side of the seesaw that is at the top in this picture

Cowboi, yes same issue with the F20 too as far as im aware although ive never tried one on a standard linkage in a corsa personally to see exactly what happens, but basically you dont have enough throw on the standard linkage, so when the engine rocks and moves, it can cause issues.

yeah i can see the problem, on the nova you can turn the nylon bit round and 180 degrees which extends the linkage.
but the corsa one is sideways and dont look possible to do that with.

do you know of any decent guides for a let into a nova?
its already been an xe so a lot of it is done, but it would be nice to have a bit of info on welding the f28 mount on, and things like the intercooler.
cheers

F28 mount is available off the shelf from chris astley mate, its honestly not worth messing around making one.

Order from here:

Or drop him a PM on VS, as im not sure if he can do a bit of a deal on that or not, worth an ask!

The Intercooler thing is impossible to do a guide on really, as everyone uses a different intercooler, and obviously the fitting is entirely dependant on what you use.
You arent spoil for choice space wise on where to fit it though!

was always gonna buy one.

just wondering how people do it.

is it a case of bolting the engine in on 2 of the mounts and using a jack on level it up.

mark where the mount will sit, remove the engine and weld it in?

or are there measurments as to where it should be?
its not the easiest thing lifing an engine like that into a nova so i didnt want to have to do it more than necessary lol

Yeah you just attach it to the box, lift the box up to where you want it, tack the mount in place.

Then unattach the end of it that goes onto the box, and get on with welding it up properly. (access is awkward for some of it if you dont split it apart and take the box half back off)

No drama though mate, its all straightforward, you can do it with the engine in place still.
