Mk3 conversion problems! Please help
Hi all just asking for a bit of info....
I have two 1.8 16v gti engines with box's, gti engine loom, ecu, transverse and key, rad and basically everything in the engine compartment.
Iv just picked up a mk3 fiesta si 1.6 16v engine and basically the same as the one load out of the gti.
Questions I have....
Can I use the 1.6 efi manifold and would it make a difference in performance?
Could i use the gti rad?
Can I use the si loom and not lose power when I do the conversion,?
This is in regards to putting the 1.8 in the mk3

Ai I'm happy just to drop the 1.8 in for now, I got 3 engines sat there and for me to go out and buy another I would deserve a kick, the 1.8 manifold is a plastic type and the 1.6 is the efi type. I'll use the si loom for now and the escort ecu, I'll have enough spares to drop the 2liter in then and all I'll need to pick up is a ecu I suppose, and the inlet manifold

Don't quote me on this, but an it there only 15bhp difference between the escort gti 1.8 and the mondeo 2.0l ? If I pick up a 2.0l I'd quite happily strip it and rebuild it and go all out

[QUOTE=luke89;6624247]Yes but the have more torque, can't help with the 1.8 as I only used 2.0lts , oh the plastic inlet won't work on the fiesta try find a rs1800 ho inlet sure u can still run the 1.8 on the 2.0ltr ecu , what are the codes of the ecu that you have i only know the one witch is (slug) came off the escort gti I scraped, how come the plastic 1.8 manifold won't work in a fiesta ?

I know that the 1.8 rs1800 engine in the fiesta have the same cams as a 2.0, that twinned with a bigger throttle body got it up to 130bhp. So doing that means you don't have to mess around finding a 2.0

Awwh right, well I have a 1.6 to drop in for now, just need a powered steering rack, I'll seek out an alloy manifold the 1.8 or look for a 2.0l with one on. Think I'll start hunting for a mk4 escort as the next project

Unfortunately it never actually did make the claimed 130bhp and almost every RS1800 and 130PS Zetec I've seen has been nearer the 115 to 120bhp and always significantly less torque that of the 2 litre.
