just un bolt the diff from the sump, no need to remove the driveshaft, but if u do unbolt the bottom cover on the diff (squareish plate) bout 10 bolts holding it on, then you'll see a circlip around the driveshaft, pop that off an remove shaft.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
If the shafts are out then you don't need to take the cover off thebottom of the diff.
To get the diff out you'll need to take the shaft that goes through the sump out.
Also, there is fuck all clearance between the diff an the cross member, so it's a bit of a bitch to get out.
However, why did you want to separate the diff / engine?

why do you need to remove the intermidiate shaft from the sump?
the diff won't come out with the crossmember in the way
the engine won't come out with the diff in place
so much easier to let it ot the bottom in one big lump and remove it that way
the shafts will just pull out on both sides if yanked hard enough and the steering intermidiate shaft needs unbolting form the builkhead where it joins the column
other than that, brake lines and engine fuel and electrics are all you need to ditacth
