If the shafts are out then you don't need to take the cover off thebottom of the diff.
To get the diff out you'll need to take the shaft that goes through the sump out.
Also, there is fuck all clearance between the diff an the cross member, so it's a bit of a bitch to get out.
However, why did you want to separate the diff / engine?
basically mate im going stage 3 and my engine is having an overhaul the head is already having bits done to it. And i was told that i should take out the pistons to have the rings and bearings checked. so alot of people have told me to take the block out as its the easiest way to take the sump off to get to everything and easier to work on.
