Default Zetec Turbo lads! Dry Sump?

Anyone done this on a ZT in a ERST?

Not sure how far i want to go with the ZT build but ive heard a few horror stories and know Luca fooked his 1st ZT up because it was running a std oil pump.

What you lads running bhp wise on a standard pump?
Had any problems?

Also anyone got a dry sump setup?
Seen a kit from Titan thats not as exspensive as i thought. I dont want to spend all this money on steel rods a pistons for the pump to give up on me 1000miles later!

Whats your thoughts?

think everything else needs to be made to suit with the dry sump

i know ratface erm sorry ratboy was looking into it (the one in performance ford monthly build) and he mentioned that a lot needed to be changed

isnt the titan one for rwd conversions, didnt think there was an off the shelf kit for fwd fitment

Matt speak to RAT8OY he is doing his at the moment in a s2!...

However the price for the Titan kit is literally sump pan and pump.

You need to fabricate ALOT!..
You need to purchase a tank also
You need to purchase the pipework and fittings too.

Titan as all dry sump systems it would seem are for RWD application out the box.

If you own a FWD you have to get the ruler out and brush up on your Lego skills!

Ah ok, blacktop oilpumps seem to be able to handle 300bhp very well, the mk1 focus RS is more than happy with 300bhp all day long, and its just a blacktop zetec turbo

Can they be used on the silvertop or are they different?

I've just decided to save myself a load of grief and fit a black top instead.

Not heard of it suffering the same problems that the silver top does. Will be a little more expensive to build as pistons and rods and things don't seem quite so cheap, but it's much cheaper than fitting a dry sump kit

Me and Rat8oy are doing the dry sump conversion mine is a mk1 fiesta and dans is an rs turbo

to the knoledge the silver and black tops suffer from failure of their oil pumps something to do with nose flex on the crank on the zetec turbos

im going to be running a pace oil pan and titan pump with inbuilt filter housing but mine will be on the st170 engine

mine was supplied by field motorsport

as for the oil pans they are all rwd mainly for the formula ford championship so you will have to move the alternator and fit the pump where that was and alot of fab work but will safe guard your engine!

power wont kill the pump mate , revs will , fitting a light ally flywheel and ally bottom pulley will also help kill it .

i rev my engine to 7300rpm and its never been under 300hp ,i run the standard flywheel and pulley and have done over 15k.
