I'm in the middle of an EFI FRST conversion on my EFI Orion Ghia.

The engine I've bought DOESNT have the large hole for the cps mount like on my N/A EFI block. This is what the N/A one looks like:





Instead the block I've bought has this hole:





I've checked the number on the block with another FRST block I have, and it's the same, so I'm pretty sure this is actually a FRST block, but the CPS hole seems completely different


I found this bracket thing (number 16) on a certain un-nameable parts system but cant get any part numbers from it. Does this hold a cps?



Any help appreciated, this is supposed to be going in before Ford Fair !

its number 14 that holds the cps
there is 2 versions

Yeah I've got 2 versions of number 14, but they are about an inch in diameter and wont fit through the little hole ive got, which is only the size of the CPS itself

does the cps fit the hole then. if you stick it in and put the flywheel and see if it sits in the rite place. if not go get a big drill bit and drill it out. you should drill it as slowly as possible.

sounds like someone has drilled it themselves
how accurate will the position of the hole be?

The CPS does fit throught the hole and seems to line up with the flywheel cutouts so I can only assume its actually an MFI block and its been drilled by someone else.

I'm not too good with metal or a welder but I've knocked this up:



Bolts through from the gearbox side into a welded nut, and then the CPS itself is attached with a nut on a welded bolt.
Looks loose in that picture, but when tightened up the cps sits about 1mm away from the flywheel in line with the cutouts. How can you test a cps signal?

Without a doubt thats been cobbled up, a proper EFI block would have the 31mm hole to fit the alloy adapter into.

I drew up a diagram a while back to show all the dimensions if you feel like making a proper job of someone elses bodge

And you can test the signal using a multimeter set to AC volts.

You can't leave that like that - the CPS will misread something terrible. The reason the factory ones are mounted in an aluminium boss is that ally is non-ferrous and non magnetic so it won't interfere with the sensor. If you mount it directly on iron the block itself will get picked up and interfere with the flywheel reading.

Better to enlarge the hole while the engine's out. You've got another block to compare it to as well which should make it much easier.
