Default Should boost change when fitting a intercooler?

Because iv just fitted a intercooler, and the car was boosting 16psi before and now only going to around 11ish?

Cheers

are you sure that none of the boost hoses are kinked ,and that you didn`t catch the bleed valve when fitting the intercooler also is the intercooler new and what is it?

I think the problem is the boost hose at the top, with the bonnet up i revved it and it about squashes together!! Possible because iv fitted the intercooler and its trying to put more boost through now than normal, so iv orderd a set of silicone boost hoses, which arrive on saturday so hopefully this will sort the problem.

Its a airtech cooler, was going to get grs but the one i was bidding on got took off ebay, and could afford a new one cus iv just had to pay a £165 fine

The bleed valve is locked off with the locking nut so i doubt i could have done that, once iv tried the new boost hoses and if its still the same i will try adjusting the bleed valve but hopefully these boost hoses will work. Bonus Boy you using the standard boost hoses?

dont adjust the bleed valve mate if its been set up, spose it could also be a split boost pipe or poor seal some where on the intercooler

Am i right in thinking its something to do with the boost hose just about totally squashing together when revving?

i fitted a air tec intercooler with samcos no kinks etc and my boost droped from 18psi to 8ish i found the intercooler was restricting the air flow i now have a grs and it only droped 2psi which i sorted out via the bleed valve

p.s i have a airtec cooler up for sale but i would not bye it

the boost drops due to intercooler core restriction it also dont help it being a twin pass intercooler you just need to turn the boost back up but not before getting it setup because it will be running leaner from the denser air from the cooler

but saying that if the pressure drop is to much (like the air tec intercooler) from core restriction you can begin to perform worse than before if the boost drop is high enough to negate any gains seen from temperature drops.

really? you should see a pressure drop not a rise in boost pressure, whatever gave you the extra 5psi it wasnt the cooler

when i get my kenlowe fans i will refit my grs fmic.

but it was the same as people above went from 10psi to 5psi and not very responsive.

ive got the standard ecu...what bhp is max for them to cope with?

would i be able to refit the grs cooler and have it setup to run around 10psi with the standard ecu?

ive got a few mods done to it...and without the cooler (now) the ecu is fine...will it cope with the cooler?

You need to do a boost system pressure test, then check over and setup.

also matters on where your actuator is getting its boost feed from and where your measureing the boost.

well the only thing i changed was the cooler and silicone hoses which i guess would have helped but the first run on the rollers i could hear it detting/pinging away like crazy. operator said it was hitting 20psi when it was set up for 15.

but you could of had a boost leak above 5psi or so before you change your inter, and then solved it when you changed it.

I destroyed an engine after fitment of a GRS Evo3 intercooler, WOT in 5th showing a few psi extra.....hello Det....BOOM went the engine.
The increase in boost could only have been as a direct result of the more efficient IC, nothing else was touched.
Not knowing any better at the time I didnt think to have the car set up after fitment.
My advise to anyone fitting a new IC, exhaust or other parts that may atribute to change in preassure would be to have the car checked & set up if necessary.
