Unlike some peeps, that menu youve just written is perfect mate and should see you into ketosis induction within 48hrs.

As for other foods, basically you can eat as much as you wish of the following:

Meat. Fowl. Fish.
Dairy products can be consumed with caution.

My average breakfast was 3 boiled eggs.

My average dinner was 5rashers of bacon, 2 eggs and a handfull of mushrooms.

My average teatime meal was 18oz sirloin steak with a small portion of cauliflower, broccolli and sprouts. The only sauce i permitted myself was full fat mayonaisse.

Best advice i can give is take an hour to look around tesco's and note all the dietary content on the labelling. Your looking at "Carbohydrate" and must limit your intake to 20 or less per day to remein within Ketosis.

I also recommend you buy some "ketone test strips" to test your urine for ketone prescense to aid in your food chioces. You can then up portion every 2 days until your diet is affected by the urine test and you know where to limit your intake.

Final and most important 2 tips.
1) TAKE THE RECOMENDED VITAMINS.
2) DRINK A GALLON OF WATER A DAY.

Ive dropped the diet for now as im going on holiday soon. My final weight is 14stone 2 which is exactly 3 stone lost in as many months and im pretty damn pleased with myself

Best of luck.

nope stu is right, lots and lots of water

it does work if your do it properly and don't slack/cheat

i started on it for the second time(did it early last year) 2 weeks ago tomorrow and have lost 9lb so far

take it easy on the eggs and cheese in the first couple of weeks as these have a few carbs in them, you wann have a MAX of 20 net carbs a day. also try to avoid artificial sweetners in products.... plenty of fish too. i had cream cheese and salmon rollups for breakie today.

Yes mate, as long as you stick to the rules the diet has to work for 90% of people due to the way the body works.... its really rather impressive...

Heres some pics of me before and after from another diet topic we had going:
Before

After (2months approx at a guess)

Im actually 1/2 a stone thinner than that now and more toned... Feeling good too

fudgeass,

Buy the strips from any Chemist.. they are commonly used by diabetics so most places will stock em.

Water is the key to feeling good on this diet and ALL diets dry you out to a certain extent, and the Atkins does it quite dramatically. The golden rule though, is if your not getting headaches, your drinking enough

The more excersize you do, the faster you will lose weight due to the fact that exertion requires energy which will be burnt from your fat reserves

I tried for years then bought a book called "Allen Carrs, easy way" and ive never smoked since... I know how fooking hard it was though... grim... fookin grim... best of luck pal, it DOES get easier, but dont take a puff or the drug is back in your blood and the addiction is refuelled again!!

On the subject of cream cheese.. that stuff kicked me straight outa ketosis, we are all different you see and thats where the test strips are invaluable

Just stick with meat and eggs, its hard i know but hey, what fookin isnt?

If you want to snack, buy a cooked chicken and eat it with mayo... rockin

Been on the diet for a while now. Omlettes get me through it. A good alternative to potatoes, chips and rice!

yeah more carbs in the low fat stuff

yeah those thin salmon slices from the fish section for cream cheese i use Ricotta. you could try cottage cheese, slighty different. just experiment.

i find good snacks are pepperramis and babybell cheeses although don't go to nuts with the cheese as it does have a small number of carbs.

also you can get some low carb products, chocolate bars, breakfast bars etc. you shouldn't really eat those in the first weeks but i have superdrug do low car kitkats and rolo's the rolos are Ł1.29 a pack!!!!

check out www.lowcarbguys.co.uk postage is a rip, just ordered me some tortilla wraps and pasta aint tried um yet though.

slowpoke,
burgers and sausages etc
These will usually hinder your progress unless 100% beef. Sausages usually have lots of filling in em that are high in carbs Matt.

Did Atkins in October last year and came off it in February this year. Lost 1 1/2 stone overall and have kept it off. When i started Atkins i didn't have anyone to help guide me so i did lots of stuff wrong and started actually putting weight on and getting headaches. It's really important to drink plenty of water and take the vitamins. Once you get the hang of it it's not that difficult and when i did it there were no low carb products that are around today. Good luck!

sausages and burgers that aint 100% are filled out with bread, thats why they are high carbs

make your own burgers from 100% mince beef and spring onions cos normal onions aint too good either.

well done peeps for keeping weight off

i can handle not eating choccy, biscuits and stuff cos i dont eat much of it anyways

Me neither, it was pasta that i found really hard to live without. Crisps were kinda hard too but i didn't miss rice or bread, only when the lads came over for a curry.
There's so much more out there to help you with Atkins these days. I started getting nosebleeds and my doctor said it was down to Atkins so i stopped but the nosebleeds carried on. Found out recently that it was actually down to hayfever and pet allergies and nothing to do with Atkins at all!!!! It's amazing what people will try and put down to Atkins and if you're none the wiser you believe them.

Lol. You should have a night where you either eat the last of the carbs inyour house or bag it all up and give it away. Don't leave anything in the cupboards or fridge to tempt you cos the first couple of days are the hardest when your body goes into Ketosis. It's like going cold turkey from smoking or alcohol.

Can't ditch the other stuff, I got kids and a wife so they won't be happy.

Ketosis sound real fun

Will wait for the book and see what its all about, whats good/bad what the vitamins are etc.
