PS4 or Xbox One
More and more reports of broken ones cropping up.

Ah man, proper feel for these people who bought a broke console. Hopefully it should be an easy fix, and hopefully sony are able to track batch numbers so the europeon launch goes smooth...
There are some fixes online floating around for some of the issues although some people are having no luck with these either.
I'm wondering if it will be the same here. It depends like you say if its a particular batch that's having issues, or just random units. It also depends when they get shipped over here.

Yep, we 'seed' the base values based up the cloud conditions and then we let the dynamic code do the hard work.

Well Sony have said about a 0.4% failure rate.
So for ever thousand, 4 will not work, and out of those 1000 you will definitely get 4 bad reviews, but I don't think you'll get 996 good reviews.
However, now knowing that have sold over a million, there is going to be a lot of angry people taking to the internet.
This is interesting though.

That 0.4 failure rate comment was made the day before official launch. Thats when I first read it. So that doesnt include all consoles bought from day one onwards. There is definately a higher rate than that. Just look at amazon. Granted, you wont hear from all the positives, but, chances are not everyone will write negative reviews either.
Either way, pretty shit for the consumer to havr to go through...
Didnt realise sabotage was the cause... again its all rumours at the mo but how did sony not spot this sooner.... or did they?
Surely they must of ad to do checks.... like every 100th one power it up and check or something?
Xbox one comes with a wired headset... or you can use the kinect if you want

The other thing you have to take into account is the amount of fake negative reviews you will get from Xbox fan boys that have got wind of the failing ps4's.
Just look at the cod and bf4 reviews. Both are littered with fans of the opposite in slagging matches.
Amazon doesn't require purchase proof to write a review.

Looks superb on those vids of cod ghost, i want one now
As SSD's are pretty expensive. Grab yourself a SSHD

I don't know enough about them to know if this is true or not?
I thought this when I saw them but was advised against the SSHD - " Right now that makes it look like the all singing all dancing option nearly on par with a SSD... Until you fill the relatively small portion of flash memory and it becomes a shitty slow HDD again"
I don't know enough about them to know if this is true or not?

However, proper benchmark tests show they are nowhere near SSD in terms of performance, but they are only Ł10-Ł20 more than a similar sized HDD so it's worth a go.

But Kinect doesnt always work. Its simply not reliable or flexible enough. Often, I felt like I spent more time screaming at the Kinect to follow my commands then it would have taken to just pick up the controller. I begged, I pleaded with the device to do what I wanted in the most commanding yet humble tone I could muster, and on many occasions it indeed felt like I had the robotic butler of my dreams. Most of the time, though, it felt like my butler was a little hard of hearing.
There are two distinct ways the Kinect fails, and the first feels inexcusable. Many of the voice commands are extremely rigid, to the point where you need to memorize a list of exact phrases to be able to use them reliably. If you want to go to an app, for instance, you need to start by saying "Xbox go to." But if you want to go to Bing, that structure doesn't work. The correct command is "Xbox Bing," because Microsoft expects you to unquestionably understand and accept that "Bing" should be a verb. If "Xbox on" turns on the console, why doesn't "Xbox off" turn it off? Because "Xbox turn off" is the proper command, and youll need to memorize it. If youre a Redbox Instant subscriber, get used to calling it "Redbox Instant by Verizon," because the Kinect wont accept anything less. There are dozens more examples like these.

The bad
Case is boxy, heavy, and about as big as the original Xbox.
Many launch games don't pack much of a visual punch.
Controller still uses AA batteries and proprietary headsets.
Voice commands fail a good 10 to 20 percent of the time.
System requires incredible precision in what voice commands it will take.
Voice is cumbersome and annoying in many apps.
Most apps are nearly useless in snap mode.
The ugly
Kinect auto-login works inconsistently.
In-game recording was largely busted on my review unit.
Switching from game to game can delete unsaved data without warning.
Kinect IR remote doesn't have a learning function for unsupported hardware.
Verdict: Buy it if there are exclusives that appeal to you, not for the bells and whistles. Otherwise, save $100 and get a PS4.

DF: PS4 COD frame judder caused by frame rate HIGHER than 60fps #1
Taking the affected clips and running them through our performance analysis tools, we expected the results to show clear frame-rate drops and small bouts of tearing, but surprisingly this wasn't the case at all, with the results showing us a largely locked 60FPS bar one or two minor dips and a solitary torn frame. Furthermore, when seeking through the footage in performance-affected areas we were confronted with unique frames on a consistent basis, thus indicating a 60fps update that we just didn't feel when playing the game.
So just what is going on? Well, a close look at our captures reveals that Call of Duty: Ghosts actually runs at higher frame-rates than 60fps on a fairly frequent basis, despite the video output being limited to 60Hz

This is the big one. We’ve already established that the PS4 has more GPU performance under the hood, but how does that delta manifest in games? My guess is we’re going to see two different situations. The first being what we have here today. For the most part I haven’t noticed huge differences in frame rate between Xbox One and PS4 versions of the same game, but I have noticed appreciable differences in resolution/AA. This could very well be the One’s ROP limitations coming into play. Quality per pixel seems roughly equivalent across consoles, the PS4 just has an easier time delivering more of those pixels.
NBA 2K14 is one cross platform title where I swear I could sense slight frame rate differences between the two consoles (during high quality replays) but it’s not something I managed to capture on video. Once again we find ourselves in a situation where there is a difference in resolution and/or AA levels between the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game.
I grabbed a couple of scenes from early on in Battlefield 4. Once again the differences here are almost entirely limited to the amount of aliasing in the scene as far as I can tell. The Xbox One version is definitely more distracting. In practice I notice the difference in resolution, but it’s never enough to force me to pick one platform over another. I’m personally more comfortable with the Xbox One’s controller than the PS4’s, which makes for an interesting set of tradeoffs.
Typically AMD’s GPU targeting 1080p come with 32 ROPs, which is where the PS4 is, but the Xbox One ships with half that. The difference in raw shader performance (12 CUs vs 18 CUs) can definitely creep up in games that run more complex lighting routines and other long shader programs on each pixel, but all of the more recent reports of resolution differences between Xbox One and PS4 games at launch are likely the result of being ROP bound on the One.

However, micro transactions in forza 5.. Good job turn 10, first you remove all the decent tracks and put in made up circuits just because they look prettier, then you axe the car list in half in favour of dlc sales.... now you have removed leveling awards and are asking players to purchase in game credits with real money.

does anyone know if the xone has a wireless headset as i cant see anything about one, maybe thats answered my own question ?hate to say it mate but i assume you traded in 360 ghost for that one? got a good deal when i went to pay for the xb1 tonight. paid Ł509.99 for xb1 day one with forza day one edition, battlefield 4, killer instinct,1 years xbox live and wolverine blu ray and traded in ghost but game are doing a special on buy ghost for Ł40 when you buy a console.Well they give you Ł40 credit for your 360 ghost towards the xb1 version so basically because i did it with the console it basically cancels it out so just did a straight swap but meant i wasnt able to take it till i get the console. Then they were doing another special when buying xb1 you get lego marvel heros for half price which works out Ł27. not bad at all so got that too for my kids........ lol
so basically i got
xb1 day one with forza day one
battlefield 4
wolverine blu ray
killer instinct game
lego marvel heros for a total of
Ł537
and they straight swapped gohst for the xbox one version.

there is quite a difference in them gifs, yeah ps4 is more powerful. But what good is a great pic if it stutters like fuck during gameplay. i really wont be that bothered in the differences in resoloution. Not once have i played a game on 360 and think, look at the jaggies, look at the dodgy textures. i get lost in the game. Although, i do notice lag, i do notice framerates.
I would rather have something not look as refined, but plays smooth. stuttering during multiplayer would completely ruin the experience. Not that most have even experienced multiplayer on ps4 properly yet. Still having major problems by the sound of it due to flaky psn. There is no excuse for that at all imo. Sony were happy to claim they had over a million pre orders...therefore had a ver good ballpark figure of how many would log on of the bat. Yet the network crumbled. The worse thing about that is sony fans are now paying for that service. Even more the fact that it is just two countries all be it big ones.......wait till two weeks when the rest of the world jump online lol.
As for the kinect not working, that isnt quite the same thing i have read/seen. Yeah, people are saying it doesnt always work.....but what most arent saying is that they are trying without saying the correct phrase. Now the phrases arent in how we would use in our everyday speech....but i think that is why they did it like that. So kinect doesnt pick up something in a conversation and only listens for "its" commands. Just means you need to learn its commands to see it shine properly.
I really think it is too early to judge either console. far too soon, and it wont be long before both consoles will be getting os updates to iron out issues. very early days people......
That's a good thing though. At least that shows they are working hard behind the scene to get right....
Like I said I expect both machines to get regular updates for a while...

Watching the UI video. Good laugh watching an Irish person try and use kinect!

Exactly, most of the games shown at E3 won't be landing until around June next year.
However, from what I've seen so far I'd go with ps4. Although I'm waiting to see what the online on both is like as living out in the sticks psn was too slow to do anything.
