now all sony have to do is build a good online service for multiplayer games to rival xbox live and they might be onto a winner this time round..........although having servers is the expensive bit.
Sony also need to find some cash too....the way microsoft has been throwing cash around to grab all exclusives,dlc etc. They have been ruthless these last few months.

Ps3 was more powerful than xbox 360 yet xbox IS more popular. most xbox players will pass over to xb1. same as sony fans as they all follow their friends. There needs to be something big enough to make people cross over either way.

With watchdogs and driveclub being pushed back to early 2014 that doesnt help their corner. THeir launch tiles look very weak against xb1. Also, watch dogs and driveclub are then launching around the same time as titanfall. They will get put in the background by that game especially with all the momentum its picked up from critics. Then, halo is coming after that. Im not keen on halo, but it does big numbers for microsoft.

Graphics alone dont sell consoles, but online gaming,great content and quality games do......

Had this discusion with a friend the other day.
The most powerful consoles have always sold the least! right back to the ps1 era.

I see microsoft have just made sure Titanfall will never make it onto the ps4 as well. They really have been throwing money about.

If I do decide to get one of these "current gen" boxes I am going to wait until the cloud is fully up and running. That really has the potential to blow the ps4 out of the water with functionality. I'm amazed microsoft aren't making a bigger deal about it.
As it stands im still on the fence.

Sony has cloud storage and streaming.
Completely different thing.

Xbox will have dedicated servers for every game, even the indie games will have access. It also has the ability to handle certain tasks taking the load off the console, and potentially even down to handling certain graphic processes.

 

It's already been said Sony can utilise Gaikaiin the same way, it just won't happen though, so many variables for it not to work well it could be well into the next gen if it was to make it's way in.

As I said there is a reason they mentioned it and it's hardly been spoke of after that imo

 

Gaikai is a game streaming service that uses Nvidia GRID remote servers. It is completely different, its for streaming to the ps4, not assisting it.
Gaikai is basically netflix but for games.

Also only having access to 30k servers there is no way it could offer the same service. Hence ps4 games not having dedicated servers.

However, only time will tell what Microsofts Azure is really capable of, esspecially with the lack of fiberoptic internet where I live

 

Sales of a console still doesnt proove anything though.
look at the wii. Smashed the sales of xbox 360 and ps3.yet I dont know anyone that still plays it. Bought it for my mrs who played it for about a month. Then recently sold it with 5 games for 20quid. Lol no one wants it.
The evoloution of xbox 360 and ps3 have been good. Nothing like how they started 7 or so years ago.....

 

I honestly dont think it will. As said xbox 360 is less powerful than ps3 yet i know people who have both. ps3 gathers dust as online just isnt as good. Look at sales of the real big games.. they sell more on xbox over ps3. cod for example. Lots of people hate it,but it does the numbers.

I still feel alot of people will be surprised on how many units microsoft will sell. Alot still remember the drm etc,but the casual gamer(the bigger market) wont even know that exsisted. Their going to see the "new xbox" and thats that.
Cod ghosts one game thats not as good on xbox as it is on ps4. Yet there is no footage to compare the two. Look at the difference between bf4 on both platforms....theres hardly any. Not enough for normal non fanboys people to care about. I think both look amazing.

Microsoft have never said its the ultimate gaming console. They even said its ot built just for games. Its a entertainment system. They claim they have the best games...which in my eyes they do. THey never said "we have the most powerful machine"

If they really push the kinect,but in the way people would benifit and not just gimicks then sony could have a bit of a problem in the future. Just look at the simple things like passing the controller to a brother or friend and the settings auto changing. When playing games and it scanning your face and putting your face on the character.This would be awesome.... How could sony compete when they decided to scrap the ps eye just to reduce the price of the console which in doing that meant the light on the controller is now.....just a light that uses up the power quicker.

I hate jumping around in front of the telly. didnt like the wii, so obviously didnt like the kinect. BUT i see the possiblity now especially as its with EVERY console, therefore developers know that they could bring good new experiences that everyone would use. Leaning (which i tend to do without being aware of it lol) while playing first person shooters could make your man lean, talking can make things happen in game, it reading your heartrate could do things to make you react... so many possibilites.


Dont get me wrong, sony have shown some good stuff that could be coming down the pipe line, but its all rumours. Microsoft are showing different stuff off every day. All sony have said this who time is...."we are cheaper,no drm, our console is more powerful, you now have to pay.....oh, and here is our new controller with a light on it and a touch pad....which er does nothing new or good.
The ps 4 is just a more powerful ps3 with a new dashboard. I want to see inovation. I want to see next gen. new ideas.

It wouldnt suprise me if microsoft went chasing oculus rift and snapped them up. When meantioned to them in an interview about vr and oculus, they smiled and said we have made the xbox expandable with 3.0 usb ports.......They have the money.

SONY ARE A FUCKING RIP OFF!!!!!!

Turns out all ps3 games can be used on a ps4 but Sony has stopped them working and only if you pay more money then you can play a game you already payed for....

All new games such as bf4 ac4 ghosts etc will let you pay Sony an extra Ł10 and allow you to play ps3 discs on the ps4.

 

So not only does it look exactly the same but many ps4 reviews have mentioned frame rate issues.. so much for the much praised 1080p.

The XB1 also dropped more frame rate on BF4 when running at a lower res, so do we think this could also be an issue for COD? we won't know until the 12th though...

Its just the fact that everyone jumped on the 1080p vs 720 bandwagon before realising it was going to cause running issues. 60fps constant in competitive multiplayer is much more important than less jaggies.

More the point I'm getting at is these "next gen" consoles can't even do 1080p.

PS3 and PS4 copy are the same disc, It's just like playing ghosts on the ps3 then playing it on a high spec pc of course the pc is going to make the game look a bit better, FYI ghosts bf4 ac4 mgsv eetc all look shit compared to real next gen Games.

I think it's down to the game and developer, it was already said before anything was even looked at that we wouldn't see the games getting good until the second year, just the same as the last gen people just seem to be expecting it instant.

I don't play COD anyway, but looking at this footage it just looks disgusting you wouldn't think it's current gen and I don't even think that's down to the XB1 and 720p they just seem to be stuck in a rut with the same old engine and same old gameplay etc

 

A game that's been purely designed to run on next gen console, A lot of game makers have said there game won't look as good on next gen consoles compared to pure next gen games.

 

I'm an indecisive bastard so I've ordered both lol.

I dont believe that footage above is an xbox one, looks more like 360 to me, for example in the xone promo vids it tells you about the raised textured environments and shows you them switching it on and off, that vid just looks flat like 360.

 

menu and score buttons would suggest it is XB1 the guy also said it's XB1 and he has 1 million + subscribers so don't think he's just some random

Was reading earlier the PS4 is so poor it doesn't support wifi, mp3's or external hd's. Oh dear!

 

However once you remove all the pre-rendered snazzy-ness it looks a bit bland.

Plus previous forza games have used two rendering engines. One for the showroom, garage, tuning etc. Then a less detailed one in game.



Its all about project cars. Looks breathtaking even in pre-alpha stage.

I think the lack of external storage is an odd one with "next gen" games heading towards 40-50gig installs.

However, the ps4 will happily take a larger HDD or even a SSD if you feel the need to upgrade. Just a shame that at the moment a 500gig SSD being around Ł300.

 

Exactly if you feel the need to upgrade it just wack a bigger HDD in it, should imagine prices will keep falling for the SSD so should be reasonable enough soon.

 

when i played ghosts at eurogamer (on what i thought was X1) the graphics still werent great. It was a bit clearer with slight improvement on detail but definately not a wow factor....at all. Was very smooth though.
Forza was a completely different kettle of fish. The clips on youtube really dont do it justice. Much better in the flesh and so smooth. Best looking racer ive seen on any console. Driveclub looked ok,not compared to forza though. need for speed looked good but used a lot of blur effect.

As for ps not having wifi.....lol so no true. I doesnt support dlna. Which is that it doesnt allow you to stream to it. Xbox 1 does. One of the really poor things ive read from sony is that the fuction they showed off which looked really cool has turned out to be a lie........ That you can turn off the ps4 and carry on playing the game on vita and take the game anywhere.....
well it turns out you can take it anywhere "as long as you are in the same wifi as the console" .... so basically wont work over 3g. THe only thing this is now good for is if you want to play the game in the bog. lol
shame as it did sound like a cool function.

ps4 wont play audio cds or allow external harddrives so unfortunately will have to bow to the mercy of sony to upgrade hard drives or their cloud setup....

xbox wont support external drives on launch either....

hmmm, havent heard anything official from microsoft yet regarding no mp3 playback though. Did see them meantion dlna though. Sony streaming has always been quite locked down compared to microsoft though......cinevia for example.

Sony actual come out and said it doesnt support dlna. i did find it strange as most things do nowdays.

The more i read storys of both consoles, the more im getting turned off tbh. So much fanboyism, so many petty arguements. My dads better than your dad bollocks.
These two companys are in business to MAKE money, and are each taking as many cheap shots at each other as possible.so many made up stories for each console. xb1 isnt powerful enough,ps4 has overheating problems blah blah blah.... Its really quite sad. You've got every one one and their aunt arguing and defending their brand yet 95% have yet to see any first hand footage or play on one yet. Its really quite odd lol

From what ive see (first hand) i could not see any major difference in performance between consoles. I did not see both consoles run the same game though. What i mean is i didnt look at xb1 games and think "the graphics look much better than ps4" or visa versa. Both consoles had some really good looking games,and some not so good.
As meantioned already i would much rather have a game that runs native 720p, but has loads of things going on on screen and runs a solid 60fps over something that runs 1080p and stutters and screen rips like fuck. Im not claiming ps4 stutters before anyone claims that. I have not seen first hand footage of cod ghosts on ps4.

All sony need to focus on in my eyes is getting online play up to scratch. You can have a game look great but if online gaming is full of lag, booting form games and hosting issues then people wont play. Te more people on line, the better the experience. Sony really need to push for a xbox live experience. They have the raw power, they have the games, they just need the online part now. Only problem being that that is the expensive part. servers are seriously expensive and i just dont think sony has the money to cover it. Hopefully with good sales of hardware,and now income of psn, this should improve.

I have pre ordered the xbox one off of the games i played,the games i liked and the up and coming games i want....Most of my friends have xbox 360's so more than likely will progress onto xb1. Eventually i might get a ps4 too. but for now i can only afford one console.

Both consoles WILL BE AWESOME and will give you many good memorys and awesome times
