Default T3 turbo not boosting

High all need some info.

Just fitted a T3 standard turbo to a saph 4x4. It's only boosting 8-10 psi regardless of how much i adjust the actuator lengh of travel.

Any suggestions what could be causing this?

The car has a stage 3 conversion. And usually run's at 24-26 psi on full boost

Thanks all

Could be a very tired turbo or maybe the gate itself is sticking or damadged.

Nothing wrong with the turbo it's just had a recent rebuild.

What about something electrical could the ecu be playing up?

Or could it be one or some of the sensor's playing up???

HI,

Right, disconnect the amal valve, and you should now have
what ever the acuator boost pressure,is say 8psi, peak and it drops to about 6.5approx, you know the system is working ok,, no leaks and the wastegate
closed, next connect the amal valve the boost should rise depending on jet sizes
in valve, but i would say at least now 15psi plus, i see you were getting before
rebuild stage 3 boost 23 25psi, if nothing else has changed check the hoses
to the amal valve are fitted correct. maybe amal valve faulty or wiring to it,

how did u adjust the boost in the first place? alot of ppl just shorten the rod on the actuator. but it is not just a case of shortening it, u need to pump the actuator up to the pressure u want it to release at and the fit it to the turbo if that makes sense

No, doesn't make any sense at all! Only two parameters with an actuator, the spring strength and the preload; no idea what you're refering to with 'pump up the pressure", care to expand?

I think them amal valves are more trouble than there worth ,i done away with mine , connect a pipe from the compresser housing to the actuater and cut it in half and connect a bleed valve to them, i did have it on a rolling road to set up boost and fuel but never had anymore proplems , yhe guy operating the rolling road said bleed valves are fine but dont be tempted to screew em up some more .
I think a rolling road check is sometimes the cheapest repair

it state in the ford workshop manual that u have to pump up the actuator ( the little hole that normaly has a hose on it that goes to the amal valve) to the desired pressure and then slip the rod over the arm on the turbo, thus the actuator opens when it hits that pressure

abit clearer now ?

That's one way of doing it; another easier way would be to put a set of mole grips on the actuator rod and pull it over the wastegate stud and have it set up using using a good boost gauge or a rolling road.

I'm not sure that anyone outside of a main dealer garage would go about it by the manual recommends; interesting nevertheless

the thing is, if u pull it with mole grips u cant be sure at what pressure it will open at

other option is to get a actuator with a stronger spring

The Actuator has been pumped up and set that way still not boosting.

The amal valve is new all the hoses are fine.

Maybe it's the wiring? Or Ecu - Map sensor perhaps?

It's now overfueling.
