Default Engine rattling on mates s2

Alright folks,

my mates car has started this knocking or rattling kinda sound. Sounds like its coming from the head.

Basiclly when u accelerate hard the car makes a clonk, clonk, clonk noise come from the engine but sounds like the clonk clonk is being spun round fast. However it does not do it on idle. You only get this bottom end kinda knocking noise when u accelerate. But does nothing on idle and sounds fine.
The oil light works fine and doesn't flicker or anything like that. We thought if your bottom end goes yoor oil light will come on etc, and yes the oil light does work.

any ideas?

cheers peeps, hope u can help out.

its running 7 psi and the timing marks are all standard setup with the ford timing marks on the bottom crank pulley and the timing pulley for cam.

what do u mean about vacum disconnected from the ecu?

its smoking aswell like loads of blue smoke as soon as u take the yellow oil cap off the rocker cover while its running. It doesn't cut out when you take the oil cap off, it continues running but starts smoking out the back really bad.

does that make anything abit easier to understand?

The start of big ends are going to be more noticable under load,as would be piston slap or even small ends for that matter.
Its a definate clonk/knock rather than a rattle(pinking)??

when u rev the engine u get a hard clonking and knocking kinda nise as u accelerate or rev the car through the gears.

it is definetely not pinking or detting, this sound is a clonky sound which gets louder as the u rev harder or as the revs go go higher while u drive. Whatever it is the noise sounds clonky but spinning, so as u go faster the clonky noise gets faster and a little louder, however when u let it idle or don't bring the turbo in so poodle about under 3k, u don't get the noise from the engine.

cheers

could be the knacked turbo and the blades hitting the casing, if its smoking blue, it must be oil leading to either, rings, turbo, valvestem seals, if the bearings have gone in the turbo, pull the big inlet pipe off the turbo and wiggle the shaft of the turbo about, if theres loads of play its possiable that could be your problem, does it smoke on startup/over run or on boost?.

ive seen quite a few turbos in a state where they hit the casing!

but is more than likely as stated above, bottom end rattle!

it doesn't smoke on startup at all, it runs fine, its just when it gets abit warm and its idleing, if you rev it an let go theres smoke that comes out and it kinda drifts away, then kinda clears up and just looks like condensation, but as soon as you blip or rev it again same thing, she chugs out blue smoke whch look abit white aswell.

Also it smokes very bad when u take the yellow oil cap off while its running. So u take the oil filling cap off and she starts belching smoke out, put it back on and she kinda calms down abit. It runs on when u take the oil cap off, it doesn't cut out or anything.

cheers

hmmmm, thats what we been thinking, but thought we'd get a definete or near enough 100% answer from someone.

if its the bottom end, how come the engine doesn't knock or make this conky knocking sound when its idleing and only when booting it?

cheers

Cant give a definate yes or no without taking a look at the car. Reason why it doesnt knock on idle is probably because thats when theres the least load.
