Default Disaster changing stem seals on CVH

Had a disaster trying to change my oil seals on my mk4 escort
Using a compresser(forked shaped thing)I've snapped one of the 'bolts' that the rockers are bolted to.
Does anyone know if these 'bolts' can be extracted?
Any help much appreciated.

It all depends, anythings possible with the right tools etc.

Does it have anything protruding etc?

It's if it resorts to having to drill it out etc, you may run into problems.

Thanks for your reply Martin.Yeah there's about an inch or so still exposed.
I couldn't work out if they come out or not?
Is it worth trying some mole grips on it?

Tbh I don't know for sure but surely if you have snapped a threaded bolt then it should unscrew normally? If so then you could try the grips just be gentle and see how it goes.

You have extractors etc as well for this kind of problem.

I can't remember how much thread there is on them, but not wanting to state the obvious, but if there's enough thread, could try a 'double nut' on it?

I managed to removed a head bolt from a friends car that he rounded off (the muppet!) via welding a nut over the top. It took two goes, as the bolt was very tight, and the weld gave way on the first attempt, but i managed to find a huge nut (size escapes me now) that fitted clean over the head of the damaged one, and that held firm

Do you have a welder?

Tom

that should easy come out with a decent set of grips mate, also check the studs you have used the spring compressor on already as they have a habit of undoing when you remove the spring compressor
