Cosworth engine making strange noise
My YB is making this strange noise, it's been doing it for last 5-6 months probably (I got the car in june this year), I don't remember when exactly it started making it since it got gradually little louder, but the noise level has been same for 5 months i'd say. I haven't driven it much after summer but it worked and still works perfectly though the noise remains. It doesn't drink oil or any other liquid, and coolant is also bright and clear. I have receipt from previous owner that cambelt, water pump, tensioner and engine oil (Castrol 10W-60) have been changed in march 2011, and the cambelt's teeth look very fresh indeed. I changed new oil (Castrol 0W-40) after 6000 km of driving, few weeks ago. This didn't have any effect considering the noise whatsoever.
Strange thing is, that it only makes the noise when its warm. When I start the engine and outside temperature is 0 celsius, it takes minute or two until the engine starts to make the noise, it gets slowly louder as the engine warms. I can't exactly tell where the noise is coming but seems like its coming from the head. Camshaft bearing, valvetrain?
Here's a video if anyone could help..

imo sounds to me that it may not be timed up correctly??? also see how tight the timing belt? try taking off the cam belt cover and see if that's the rubbing sort of noise!

I checked the timing belt today, it doesn't rub anything and I tried to stretch it with finger to see the tightness, and it seemed to be quite tight. Im no expert I don't know how tight it should be though, I should prolly post new vid or let mechanics to check the tightness. Also timing marks were OK when I last time checked them. I also double checked the source of the noise and it seems to be coming from the head, near camgear.
e: Ye, it might be too tight, heres a video with same kind of noise as I do..

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
As a ROUGH guide, when the engine is COLD you should be able to twist the cambelt 90 degrees on the long section between the inlet cam sprocket and the auxilary shaft. Once the engine warms up the slack in tghe belt will go. If it is quiet when cold then makes the noise when warm then the belt is too tight when cold.

OK, took some time to get situation updates because im currently serving in the (Finnish) army right now and I don't have much free time. Nevertheless Stu and other were right, the belt was too tight. It got loosened and the noise decreased drastically. I did little test drive after and came back just to hear the noise was back.. I opened the bonnet and tested the cambelt, and it seems to be too tight again. So somehow the belt tightens itself. But after all the culprit and solution is found and as I have time I will order new cambelt kit and camshaft bearings just to be safe as Stu said.
By the way should the camshaft bearing change be easy job or is there anything important I need to take into account?

Also things like cam caps have to be tightened to a specific torque which requires a torque wrench.
I believe you may need a "bearing removal tool" as well?
Also you will need new gaskets, i.e. cam cover, "Half moon seals" etc.

Just as another side issue, I would drop the 0w40 oil and put in something thicker, not that it's causing this issue but long term the oil is to thin for an old engine like the yb

Camshaft ball bearings have now been changed, as well as tensioner and timing belt. The engine is now a lot quieter. Here's a video of the engine running:

Sounds pretty healthy now?
